Humidity and hygiene : paint vs raw brick

Good day all, I'm setting up a fruiting room for oyster and/or shiitake. The walls are currently raw cement brick. I was planning to paint with white acrylic for ease of cleaning and light reflection, but now I'm wondering if raw brick would be better as it retains moisture and could help maintain high humidity. Has anyone had problems with either option?

I would not do either. Get thick white plastic and secure to the edges stretching tight. Quick, simple, cheap, easy to clean and rip and replace when it gets too nasty.

Thanks guys, that was my first thought, but would that not create a haven for contams in that tight space between wall and plastic with warm humid air leaking in through the gaps?

Not in my experience, and certainly a lot less that rotting spores lodged in your brick holes!

Painter here: There is a product called block filler. It is like painting gravy. It'll fill those pesky holes in the concrete. A second coat of block filler will round all those divots up to 'orange peel' and then a coat of snow-roof (get ready for fumes) will smooth that shit over. I used the snow roof to coat the plywood walls of my indoor fruiting chamber and it is durable and totally waterproof. I spray with 10% chlorine solution and hose it off to clean.
It's an expensive prospect even if you do the work yourself, but cheaper (I think) than rhino-lining (which sounds like the perfect solution).
