Crimini Fruiting Substrate
    #22248631 - 09/16/15 10:17 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Hello,

I posted this initially on a different section and was advised to post it here.

I would like to grow Crimini / Portabello and White Button at home for personal consumption (limited space suburb).

As RR mentioned that they require composted substrate, I'm looking forward to buy compost from my local Home Depot. Following are two types of compost at are readily available from HD.

1. Eco Scraps

2. Miracle Grow

I understand that horse manure compost is best for compost loving shrooms but above are my only hope in urban area. Will those work?

For casing, my local HD has Peat Moss Peat Moss. The bag says that it has nutrients (as opposed to mushroom casing should not have any). Would that work as a casing?

Thanks.
