I found a very long study in Vietnamese that looks at Ganodermataceae in Vietnam, it included some photos of T.colossus.

They look very similar especially to the small one down in front. Several descriptions also mention the skin cracks.
This is a really cool find because I am not sure if any North American specimens have been sequenced.

Very cool, Art, is that spot closer to you or me? One of us has to collect samples. Mr cloudy, how does one obtain a spore print from one of these? Very few brackets will ever leave a print for me.

70d with kit lens? whaaat? are you doing anything in post? maybe custom picture styles? those images are lovely. extension tube? is that a dof thing?
I run them through Lightroom, I have Photoshop, but I rarely use it in multiple picture stacking scenarios. An extension tube is just a small tube that goes between the lens and camera body, the extra distance to the sensor cause the lens to focus closer. Just search ebay for macro extension tubes that are compatible with your camera.

No, I'll have to check out that link today, I'd be down for that! I'm about an hour away from the spot, but I was thinking about goin on Sunday. You should meet me out there, if you're free. With all this ra*n, should be some interesting and yummy stuff out there then we can swing by the wood chips and grab those for Cloudy.

Something fresh would be cool, for the possibility of cloning, but if that cant be found providing the rain has not washed them away you should be able to find one coated in its own spores. A spore print, at least with Ganoderma usually has to be done in situ. By wrapping with aluminum foil or something similar. It's usually not worth it though as they are really good at collecting their own spores on top of the pileus.

You got it, brotha! We'll see what we can do this weekend if you wanna PM me your facebook page, it would probably be easier to get a hold of you. And did you ever get the Ganoderma off the Palm tree that I sent you? I never heard back from ya. If something happened and you still need some, this spot has TONS of Ganoderma! We could send you a goodie bag :-D

Confirmation that the yellow thing is Tomophagus colossus!

This photo shows spiky chlamydospores scraped from the context of the mushroom sent to me. Which seem to decently match the photo below of a Vietnamese specimen of T.colossus.

Excellent find! Very excited to get to examine this species. Thank you for sending it.

Awesome!!!! Super excited about the result! Wish we could've got that original one that DG found, when we went the first time... that thing was a beast! Easily 3x the size or this one in situ, probably 4x the size of the final dried specimen!!! Thank you for doing the hard (fun) part, MrCloudy!
