Hey all, thought i read a post somewhere where some guy was adding a nitrogen supplement to his water when cooking. Is this a sure way to increase quality/ potency and if so i can use hydroponic chems like cal-mag or fox farm trio to my water?

I assume you're using this water to make LI syringes, it's not necessary IMO, but it'll make a cool experiment.

no, im using it in pasteurizing/ sterilizing water for bulk substrate for casing/ layer use. Such as just adding some when using 50/50 coir verm tek or horse poo or whatever. Its pointless in my opinion to use early on like during syringe making

the only way to increase potency is growing a better strain or a different species.
by strain I don't me variety. When you use spores each two spores that successfully mate = strain. if you use a spore syringe to inoculate you have 100s if not more strains in your grow. when you clone a mushroom the mushroom itself may be multiple strains or an isolate.
clones and isolates that are tested and then kept around(catalog on slant or keep agar in your fridge etc..) those are the way to potency.
some strains of every variety of cubes are very potent. some strains are not. any variety can perform awesome or shity.
the cultivator is the key to potency not ingredients

very correct. conditions and nutrition effect yield, genetics effects potency.
the strongest magic mushrooms like the azurs for instance grow on the least nutritious substrates. it's pure genetic. you can't give them more food they won't just make it into psilocin. your genetics determine if you get 0.5% or 0.6% actives for instance. you can grow the same genetic isolate of cubensis on poo or coconut husks and they'll be the same potency but might have different appearance.
this is why everyone who knows what they're doing gave up looking for the perfect substrate, or the magic substrate. or all that other bullshit excuses for not actually becoming a good cultivator. everyone who knows what they're doing does agar work and saves their potent cubes. there's people with melt your face potent B+ GT etc... because they have a genetic isolate from said variety that is a potent one. potency is more like hair color. you can feed the kid anything you want but it's going to grow red hair if it's got red hair genes.
