What should I do with these?
    #22246325 - 09/16/15 02:29 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

I started these from seed quite a while ago. Two years I want to say. They were labeled as Macroganus x Roseii. These are just sitting in potting soil in a humidity dome. They recently started growing a lot more. Other than getting them into a better soil mix, what can I do for these guys to help them along?

I wouldn't worry bout the humidity anymore.
They might do better w/o it at this point.

2 years? My trichs are that big after only a few months! Get those suckers some fertilizer, lower the humidity (you don't need much at all), and put them in as much sun as possible!

I keep mine either in full fucking sun or under a 600w metal halide with maybe %20 humidity max and they are happy as can be. They grow about a half inch a month. 4-6" tall after 8 months from seed.

Here are some pictures of two year old seedlings planted in november 2013 and moved outside under shade cloth in march of 2014.  They were just repotted to include another inch of growth under the soil because of stabilization.  I've never fertilized them but their mix did have some rock dust/green sand/lime added.

The initial mix was 50% sifted fox farm soil, 10% worm poop, 30% pumice, 8% coir and 2% silica rocks.  That soil retained a lot of water which was fine for their first year outside but this year some seedlings from this batch started to suffer from wet feet.  Where I live It rains a lot during the summer.  Going forward these are in a 75% mineral mix with 25% sifted fox farm soil.

I found this while doing some reading.  I'm going to go with this since I already have all of the materials.

I have everything re-potted with a light blast of nutrients.  How often should I be watering them at this stage?

Wait till the soil is completely dry and then give plenty of water.

Thank you SY.  I just found a really helpful pdf over at The Nook that essentially said the same thing.
