Can you clone Truffle --> grain in an SAB?

How possible would it be to take a freshly harvested truffle (ATL#7) and clone it directly to grains rather than to agar?
I never have much sucesss using agar, my plates always contaminate, but i can do G2G transfers just fine in my SAB. So i was wondering if its possible and if there are even any advantages over G2G if i were to take a fresh truffle into my SAB with some sterilized grains.
I was thinking i would use a sterized scalple to slice the truffle in half and transfer some of the inner tissue into the jar.
I know this would colonize slower than G2G because it would have less inoculation points, but could it possibly give me a better truffle producer in the end because it was cloned from a truffle rather than starting with MS?

it would more likely give u more truffles yea. i suggest u try to clone to agar, have a look at the no-pour technique.

You could clone it by transferring inner tissue to grains, but you won't know if it's clean. Lots of times clone tissue isn't clean which is why we clean it up on agar first.
If you do try it that way, be patient. The tissue will fuzz up right before leap off. Just let it colonize like you would a wedge drop.

How could a truffle clone not be clean though?

ur scalpel might be dirty or something. this is why its safer to do a few transfers before inoculation.

How could the inner tissue not be clean? I understand how contaminates could come from other places like the air or dirty tools or hands, But how would the actual tissue not be clean if its never been exposed to the outside?

just my 2 cents. ive never had contams while cloning truffles from the inner tissue and i only use SAB

It should be clean. I've never had a contamination cloning a stone, but care was taken to be sterile.
Try it out and let us know.
