Stick and poke tattoos 1

So stick and poke tattoos used to be the original way of marking the skin either for war or similar to today for body art.
Today stick and pokes are looked down upon due to hygiene conflicts. There are many ways stick and poke tattoos are applied with various different tools. The term I'm using is mostly in reference to the art done without the use of a machine.
I am getting a thread and needle tattoo soon. The process involves a needle with string attached to end. The needle is pushed through the skin with the string covered in ink and as it passes through the skin the string leaves the ink under the skin.
I am very excited and want a geometric line and dot piece. Anyone else have a tattoo that was done in an ancient method?

The tools used vary but a sharp sharpened piece of bone or bamboo is dipped in dye then hammered into the skin using a blunt instrument
I'm pretty sure that's what that is

I don't have any tattoos
It'd be pretty dope to say you got one done in a traditional way but damn that would hurt!

I found this article as a kid: http://www.fecalface.com/SF/index.php/features-mainmenu-102/how-tos-mainmenu-104/282-homemade-tattoos
I grabbed a sterile acupuncture needle, some India ink, and did the same thing. (needle tied to pencil, string dipped in ink wrapped around the needle)
I gave myself an anarchy sign on my leg. It took a while, and bled more than I thought it would. It was years ago, and hasn't faded a bit. Not one of my proudest moments, but I've seen worse tattoos.

In a year or so, I'm gonna get a traditional tribal tattoo. It's gonna be done in a traditional manner with a sharp object(a needle or a small edge) and smearing the ink into the wound. Supposed to hurt quite a bit and it's pretty often to feel sick and need a few days to recover afterwards, especially for a larger tattoo.

Most of these "ancient ways of the ink" sounds like a great invitation to infection or blood poisoning

I fucking love tattoos (I love traditional, Sailor Jerry/Ed Hardy) & am covered or well I wish I was more anyway, have an arm & leg done with a bit on my other leg.
I got a hand-poked tattoo not long ago, a bit of script on the sides on my index fingers on both hands. Was done with just the needle they put in the tattoo gun & just stabbed me over & over again until the dots make a line. It's slow but not any different in pain or so I thought. Heals easy to.

Needle and thread? Jesus.
I don't get the fascination with some of this body modification shit. Tattoos and more innocuous piercings, sure. Just an expression of yourself.
But the extreme shit just does not make sense to me. For instance this tattoo, you can't possibly tell me you couldn't achieve the same results from a more modern system.. I don't mean offense by this, but is this just some bragging right thing, like somehow you're a stronger/better person? Do you just get off on the pain? Do you want to punish yourself for some reason?
To me it's the same as "we're going to have to amputate, we're gonna put you under to do it" and then someone says "I'm no pussy, just do it".
Thread and needle tattoo, splitting the tongue with no anesthesia, the Achilles piercing, genital piercing etc. It just all seems insane to put yourself through.

Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. My favorite artist HORIYOSHI III does the outline with a gun but hand pokes the fill in. He never leaves Japan though so you need to go there. If I had the time and money

Generally, most of the stick and poke tats I've seen look like shit and were done in prison or by a 14 year old. I don't mind ink but would rather not be associated with either of those.

Thought I would dig up a pic of mine fresh when it was done.
It's faded a bit now but still there. Like I said was just done with the needle they use in the gun with tape wrapped around near the tip to act like a rubber grip & he just stabbed me a bunch of times till they looked like lines. Yeah it does have a trashy jail look to it but I love it all the same. Each to their own I suppose but I am the sort of person that wants to be tattooed everywhere. If I could I would tattoo my hands/neck/face if it didn't mean I would be jobless.
