Yes,
Hydrated lime or limestone.

The hydrated lime is stronger than limestone.
Also, be careful with the lime. (dont get it on your skin or eyes)

Neglected my mini not on purpose.
Caught nasty skin infection, almost lost my arm, ended up isolated in the hospital for a week.
UN impressed with pinset, tried setting in direct sunlight for 10 minutes each day since I've been back and pulled out the top poly on one end to help more fae.

ALso stuffed this 66qt today:

How many plates can you make from one swab?
Been working with agar for a little while, just never "swab to agar"
Got these the other day and am eager to use them.

Do as many as you can (or want, rather) without removing the swab from the SAB.

2 jars of ksss agar pin clones, 2 jars of ksss ms. Excited about these, the first time starting from scratch with this culture since 2 1/2 years ago. Also 8 Jars of Cambodians, 5 almost ready to spawn and the other 3 being kept for further expansion.

10 Jars of aa+ ready to spawn in 2-3 days

10 Jars of ape shook today, should be ready to spawn in 4 days

1 master jar of aa+ cambodians and ape ready for expansion

Also got 8 jars of b+ ready to spawn. Not gonna have any room in my grow area so I may just bust out my greenhouse and spawn some trays with them, not sure yet. I may just spawn em to tubs and just fruit em on the floor of my grow room, I'll just have to pull em out before I'm able to walk in lol

i give u a tip

make a spore syringe from one of the swabs, then put one drop of spore solution on to as many plates as u want. for first i would just make a few

then once u see growth u can transfer clean sections on to new dishes

I feel like that's back stepping, Plus I never have any luck with syringes, especially if there's condensation in my pp5 dishes.
Sometimes the condensation comes off the walls and washes my drop away.
I have plates from a month ago I hit with a PE syringe and still have yet to do anything.

condensation isnt a problem, i only do no pour jars and there is always condensation, never effects the outcome

u can swipe it, i use the method i described with success

Yea I scraped parts of the casing off and it was only in the casing so you're probably right. I cased this tub with jiffy so we'll see

Isn't jiffy mix already ph balanced? As I recall from Frank's casing tek, he didn't add any lime to his mix, he just added extra verm and then pasteurized it. I guess it's good to have a soil pH tester handy, just to be sure.

Yeah it's PH balanced near a value of 7.
Which is neutral.
What you want for casings in mush cult, is a value of 8.
Which is alkaline..

Why couldn't they just have it go from -7 to 7 and have 0 be neutral.  Would that be so hard?

Cause thts not how shit works lol

The pH scale ranges from 0-14 & relates directly to the concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution.
7pH is the point at which water is neither acidic nor alkaline.

Except those numbers aren't any more absolute than any other number you could associate with those relative concentrations.  At what point is a decided unit not arbitrary?

Hey man!

I didnt create the PH scale/unit of measurement so back off lol

Theres a reason behind the units being numbered the way they are..
for example if the pH is 1 then it's 1/10(mol/liter) if it's 7 it's 1/10,000,000 (mol/L)
