Is it best to dry sclerotia fully before storing?
    #22240986 - 09/15/15 11:42 AM (8 years, 4 months ago)

I don't know how much water content sclerotia contain compared to normal shrooms, so I'm not sure how necessary it is to dry before storing them.  When dosing them, what is a typical wet and dry weight that someone would take? I've heard that they are not quite as potent as cubes, or the fruits that their spawn produces.  Thanks!

You can stores them in the fridge fresh for a short period of time. For long term though, I would dry them and grind em up when dosing them. They are pretty hard dry.

Dry stones are weaker, but if you mix them with some cubes, they compliment each other nicely.

Around 70% of sclerotia's mass is water. Fresh sclerotia is roughly twice as strong as fresh cubes, while dried sclerotia is roughly 2/3rds as strong as dried cubes because of this. So 5 grams of dried sclerotia is roughly equal to 3.3 dried grams of cubes.

The fruits from sclerotia are roughly twice as potent dry/fresh compared to dry/fresh cubes.

I believe would be good idea to dry them out asap and fully if being stored for any extended period of time if not going to be used fresh.
