Vigilante: a civilian or organization that undertakes law enforcement (or actions in the pursuit of self-perceived justice) that is without legal authority. (definition off the internet)
Discuss.

I see. In what type of cases would you think it is justifiable?

If caught dead to rights, yes, I support it.(in some cases, at least)
Someone caught molesting a child, do what you gotta do.

I don't believe in vigilante justice but I will commit to it in some cases.

I believe in vigilante justice in areas that law just cannot touch, for whatever bureaucratic BS reason. People have to protect themselves. In the case of the video, that wasn't justice, that was revenge, so it doesn't apply. Justice is about stopping a cultural event (like child molestation), not about personal vendettas.
Selfish, criminal activities usually start by not believing in the system. Some parts of the modern justice system are indeed fucked, so you really have to be informed and make educated decisions on when to raise hands against it, or to undermine it and if that's really better for society as a whole... It really depends on the circumstances.

If you hurt my daughter you better hope the cops catch you first. I am not afraid to spend the rest of my life in jail and it won't be quick for you.

I've had this feeling these past several years; as Jack Otto (R.I.P.) put it:
"It's getting down to the point where we either knuckle under or do something to fight about this. Right now it's a fight of words because, quite frankly, we're in a very awkward position here: it's too late to work within the system and probably too early to start shooting."
I would really rather see the criminals brought in peaceably and professionally where possible; but I feel it's only a matter of time before some folks decide to take action into their own hands if the system is paralyzed/corrupt: I hope I am wrong because I feel amateurish actions could have strong backlash.

All readable matter in the above post is ficticious... any similarities to real life are purely coincidental. Blessing.

I've wanted to do it myself so I can't really say no. Honestly the only thing that ever stopped me is I know I'd get caught. Dude who murdered my brother got 2 years, and then got out and started taunting my other brother and my mother. So yeah, I really wanted to take justice into my own hands. I'm just not stupid enough to think I'd get away with it and me spending my life in prison isn't going to bring back my brother.
From a purely logical stand point, I don't think it's a good idea. You can start accepting it only the most extreme cases but over time that line is going to get blurrier and blurrier whether or not anyone wants to admit it. It's easy to see how it could progress. You start off killing drug dealers who murdered people over drug debts/feuds. Then you start in on the ones who intentionally sell bad product that got your family killed. Then you jump to the ones who sold large ammounts to someone they know is likely going to OD on it. Then you start targeting them all because of what they might do.
Won't happen over night, but if you start accepting it, it's going to evolve over time.

Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

"Legal authority" is only the gang that is most ruthless and has the most guns. They do not dispense "justice", they dispense vengeance. Justice is a tough one to define and defend.

No because thats anarchy. In Belize and other 3rd world countries the cops commonly give suspects a road side execution. They deserve a trial before their execution imo.
