A "real" man is an ancient concept that doesn't apply to the younger generation.

5-10%, eh?
Pretty low percentage wouldnt' you agree.
Could even be a fetish.

I was an athlete when I was younger so I never really had to prove myself in some manly way. I guess in a nut shell it's not being a pussy

It depends on the culture. Beer and guns can easily be replaced with bitches and money in non-redneck circles. There is some culture in south east asia or africa where a mans man drinks a bunch of jizz to give him extra strength.

Lol, I think this is brilliant...it honestly reminds me of myself..
I was going to say something different though
What is a real man
Well i think the answer will preclude most of the male population as a grand total statistic..
But whats the real winner..? Well its winning itself..
A real man is someone who wins in the things he does..and thats that.

What if he kills himself to save forty? Pretty sure it isn't that simple. There are more factors to be considered, like intent and repercussion. Marathon essentially killed himself in the act of running the warning message, yet he is remembered in reverence for it.

Marathon is a place, not a person. It is the open plain where Athen's army went out to meet the Persians. In those days in Greece, it was traditional for armies to meet on open plain to ensure a "fair fight". The persians jumped into their boats as soon as the greeks showed up. They set sail for athens, where they had a group of partisans waiting to open the gates for them. The athenian army did the only thing that they coul. they ran the 26 miles back to athens to get a warning(and the army) there before the Persians could arrive and sack the joint.

Socrates might be a better example of Greek martyrdom
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socrates#Trial_and_death
Quote:
Claiming loyalty to his city, Socrates clashed with the current course of Athenian politics and society.[50] He praises Sparta, archrival to Athens, directly and indirectly in various dialogues. One of Socrates' purported offenses to the city was his position as a social and moral critic. Rather than upholding a status quo and accepting the development of what he perceived as immorality within his region, Socrates questioned the collective notion of "might makes right" that he felt was common in Greece during this period. Plato refers to Socrates as the "gadfly" of the state (as the gadfly stings the horse into action, so Socrates stung various Athenians), insofar as he irritated some people with considerations of justice and the pursuit of goodness.[51] His attempts to improve the Athenians' sense of justice may have been the cause of his execution.
at his trial, when Socrates was asked to propose his own punishment, he suggested a wage paid by the government and free dinners for the rest of his life instead, to finance the time he spent as Athens' benefactor.[52] He was, nevertheless, found guilty of both corrupting the minds of the youth of Athens and of impiety ("not believing in the gods of the state"),[53] and subsequently sentenced to death by drinking a mixture containing poison hemlock.[54][55][56][57]

I just watched a mushy, tear-jerking love song on YouTube with a live reunion of lovers from many decades ago.
One commentator wrote: "Had to punch a wall to retain my manhood."
Cracked me up!
