I wonder how many of the posters that have passed thru this forum someday come to a realization that this fucking world we inhabit is alive and is actively trying to kill us? I don't feel like explaining. But I bet you can for me. You might say a scarlet woman may beat at the heart of it.... An angry jilted lover of a river we all swim in. An Eris to the throne perhaps I'll reply The fire in the sky will never hide under wood.

I think you are hinting at women being succubus's? I agree they are trying to rule the world, enslave us, and then slowly absorb our souls.
However I think that is a product of child birth, they have to steal parts of our soul, so that they can implant it into a fetus to give it life. Otherwise children would be born soulless

" that this fucking world we inhabit is alive and is actively trying to kill us?"...
Quote:
The Medea hypothesis is a term coined by paleontologist Peter Ward[1] for the anti-Gaian hypothesis that multicellular life, understood as a superorganism, is suicidal; in this view, microbial-triggered mass extinctions are attempts to return the Earth to the microbial-dominated state it has been for most of its history.[2][3][4] It is named after the mythological Medea, who killed her own children. Medea represents the Earth, and her children are multicellular life.
Past "suicide attempts" include:
Methane poisoning, 3.5 billion years ago The oxygen catastrophe, 2.7 billion years ago Snowball earth, twice, 2.3 billion years ago and 790–630 million years ago At least five putative hydrogen sulfide-induced mass extinctions, such as the Great Dying, 252.28 million years ago
The list does not include the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event, since this was, at least partially, externally induced by a meteor impact.

hahahaha... basic survival skills wont help, you'll be hungry, cold and dehydrated to the point that your kidneys shut down, you'll have dysentery and you'll die a horrible, agonizing death and hopefully someone will be there to eat your flesh and survive long enough that I will be eating them

basic survival skills will help you last a bit longer, but that's it. survival is dependant on a civilization, and if humanity disrupts, there will be a caesura of civility and of the monumental self-preservation of the past century and some.

Guns, ammo and many years worth of MRE's is the least we can do. Anti-biotics are important but where to get those... It's funny for about a year I had a connection to this guy who could give me any pills I wanted. All sorts of goofy shit including anti biotics. Never took advantage of it or bought any thing for survival means.
I mean this guy was loaded with pain killers and xanax but he had all the odd stuff to that has no recreational value. I'm not sure what type of shit he was connected to.

The road is a pretty damn great movie. I haven't read the book, but I heard the movie isn't too far from the book.
Onething that didn't make sense in the movie at least, was that the whole world was just dead. When in reality, life finds a way to survive. I mean hell, if that many people survived, then plants and animals could as well.

Since I do not have the book, I shall check out the movie as the other poster said above!
You guys make it sound good. I usually do not watch movies because most of the time they are let downs.
I think the last movie I have completed was Guardian of the Galaxy. Which surprisingly was a alright movie! I greatly enjoyed the graphics.

Honestly, I always thought it reminded me more of like a nuclear winter - or even what would happen in the yellowstone super volcano went off(roughly speaking, they were moving southwards in the US, and you'd probably want to be moving north and keeping to the coasts if that actually happened).Quote:

The movie is good. It is very much like the book. The book is written beautifully though, one of my favorite passages has always been the very last words of that book.
"Once there were brook trout in the streams in the mountains. You could see them standing in the amber current where the white edges of their fins wimpled softly in the flow. They smelled of moss in your hand. Polished and muscular and torsional. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in it's becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived, all things were older than man, and they hummed of mystery".

the book wholly outdoes the movie, and i'm not saying that like pretentiously or anything. some movies do a great service to the book, and in the case of The Road, it did...but it still does not compare, because the language just simply cannot be conveyed in filmic form. it is not your Exorcist or 2001 or Deliverance. it's prosody is just too painstakingly perfected.
