Maybe it's cause mine is new, ionno. But that mofo holds a vacuum like a sterilizer.

Mine with that issue was old :justdontknow:

Good point about that vacuum remaining. Is removing it after it's been past 0 for a while is a workable solution?

Edit: found a thread about this with comments from rr here http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/13800926

How new?  I got a vacuum in mine the first 2-3 times and then it stopped, but the stopping also coincided with me starting to lube the metal seal in what I believe to be the correct way.

I think you need to slow down how fast the PC cools and don't relive the pressure. I've seen videos of people using bags and they just turn off the stove and wrap the PC in a insulation blanket and let it cool slowly so you don't cause a vacuum.

The 941 fully loaded takes a good 18hrs to cool all that mass so its cooling slowly. I've ran it 10-15 times now and it still holds a vacuum.

I lube my seal as well.

It could possibly be warped and the seal is not holding during expansion or contraction. Just an idea.

It is not warped lol. It is holding a seal quite well, hence the vacuum.

 right?  I was like "How is there a vacuum if there's no seal?"

Whoa. Never on a gas burner man. Yikes!!

if you don't know what a 941 is this may be the wrong thread for you

sleeves or cotton stoppers in flasks is basic lab technique. lots of labs actually use AA sterilizers because autoclaves are thousands of dollars unless you shop ebay. the sterilizer should pull a vacuum

trust your filtered bags.. if you can't trust them

if you want to be precautionary like pasty, he uses alcohol towel when he breaks the vacuum on his sterilizer

Oh right. Assume I don't wtf a pcer is. I'm well aware of the entire line of aa's dumbshit. Who doesn't want one? Just saying. Why would you want or have to use a gas burner outside? Afraid of explosion? No room? Too big? They make electric eyes to put anywhere u want on the counter. All sizes too. Small large. Fucking huge. That's what I meant to say. Less expensive then a bottle of propane every so offen am I right?  Unless u have natural gas of course.

It takes quite a long time to bring a 941 up to temp with an electric eye. Then it weighs 100lbs fully loaded. Put that on a cheap eye and you're gonna have a bad time.

You don't have to use an outdoor burner but it is much easier. I can get at least 4 runs out of a $17 bottle of propane.  I'm OK with 160qts of prepped oyster spawn for $17

Ah. Well then that's

Yes they inflate if I were to yank the weight off and equalize quickly. After 24hrs I would imagine that the temps are equal. I don't think the bags are remotely warm but maybe it's a possibility theres a degree or two diff from being such a large heat mass.

I run my 941 in a shed on a gas burner. I cannot transport the full thing to any other room.

Sorry didn't see.this. and yeah I get a little pissed when people tell me I'm stupid pretty much. And assume I have no clue.what I'm talking about. They have all kinds of ways to fix your vac problem just look harder or build your own valve with a filter on it. Easy.

A nipple with a t fitting to a nipple then ball valve and filter on top. On the side another nipple to a 90 then the original vent pipe and the pressure regulator. That way when its cool and draws that vac u can very slowly open that ball valve to suck air in through the filter.

My 921 pulled vacuum with the stock weight. It didn't really hold overnight. When I opened it hot for agar pouring I pulled the weight off real slowly. Like this guy:

Bags with tyvek sleeves in the neck should be fine if you take the weight of slow like this. If you equalized slowly and your bags are blown, it probably happened during the cook somehow I think.
