Don't use lights for your cacti for the winter. Let em go dormant. (Unless you are talking seedlings).

For salvia, CFLs work well. Or you can get a couple flouro tubes. I use 6500k.

'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

Gocha. Well, others may be fancier than myself, but mine just sit right next to the sally under my flouro tubes. I'm sure others might pop in with differing opinions though...

But salvia definitely does well under CFLs and flouro tubes.

That'd probably work, but I have no experience with HPS or MH lights whatsoever, so I can't honestly give an opinion on them for this application.

ok i found a grow light system kit on ebay i won't post the link because ill probaly get in trouble for breaking the rules but it has this bulb:High Pressure Sodium Bulb
400w - 54,000 Lumen
Color Temperature - 2,000k
Bulb Base - E39 Mogul
Bulb Life - 24,000 Hours
Extra stabilizers and reinforced glass casing for improved stability and safety
Regulation - CE certified - UL listed

and it has this bulb:
Metal Halide Bulb
400w - 36,000 Lumen
Color Temperature - 4,200k
Bulb Life - 10,000 Hours
Extra stabilizers and reinforced glass casing for improved stability and safety
Regulation - Ce Certified - UL listed

i see the color tempature is lower than what you use should i get the kit though? or invest more money in better equipment?
