Yeah I'll work on my tek man. I really don't wanna buy all this crap and not use most of it. I will buy some better blades though just to try new things.

Yeah but I feel like I could be doing.my babies better. Sometime s while tripping.my ass off staring at them growing a swear they talk to me and tell me they deserve better. They want.poop I think. And coffee. I mean I've tried it.before but I never has good success idk I feel bad for.my babies. I wish it was easyer for me to give.them more. I just need practice I guess. I hate to have to have them grow in something.I'm not so sure about though. Makes.me.sad

But in all seriousness though, it's genetics that determine the yields you get, not the substrate. Clone the fastest growing fruit from a cluster(if you can), isolate it further on more agar plates if you want, and then when you grow it out you'll have MUCH better yields, guaranteed!

Hey what do y'all think about my pasteurizing tek BTW?its a little different. I boiled water then added a pillow case with a half a brick of coir 1q coarse verm and 1/4 cup gypsum and let soak then hung till water just stopped streaming witch put it right at field cap no squeezing. Then put in jars and in water bath at 165 for 1.5 hrs. Thoughts?

The pillowcase with coir in it is a pretty good idea. It's less messy for sure. But you still have to squeeze the cvg mix until the water is only dripping a tiny amount from your hands, or you'll have some really wet substrate that is prone to contaminating quickly. I'm not even sure mycelium could colonize a super-soaked sub like that.
It should pool up around the knuckles and fingers when squeezing at max strength..that's field capacity.

When I tied the.pillow case it was too tight as the sub expanded it filled the.case super tight. I took a hand full and.squeezed super hard and got a little to drop out of my hand but not much.

Good, that's perfect. And it's always better for the mix to be a little too dry than too wet.

I pasteurize for an hour at 140-165f. I always start my timer when the temp hits 140f, then towards the end, the temp should be slightly below 165f. Then I turn off the heat and take my jars out and let them cool to room temp before using them. I try to follow Frank's Pasteurization Tek to a T, it hasn't failed me yet!! http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17246844/fpart/all/vc/1

Sweet. Maybe.I'll follow that tek for a bit. I mean I usually boil then pour into sub in a bucket put in pillow case to squeeze with a little.less pressure to leave a little more moisture then pour npc and.heat to 170 then put lid on and let.sit.till cool. It holds around 165 to 160 for about 1 hr then drops slowly as I keep it.in my PC. And that's what I've.dine.for.like 2 yes now. Its worked.perfect but its messy. Thought I'd try it like this. Idk where I came up with thus idea just did.

Cool, if it works for you, then don't change it. But 170f is a bit high IMO, that is beginning to partially sterilize the substrate. I always freak out when my temp goes higher than 165f, I pour cups of cold water in my PC to try to bring the temp back down quickly. It'd suck to prep all those jars and have to start over because the temp jumped too high. It also took me a bit of practice to maintain the temps between a certain range. Having a digital food thermometer helps immensely tho.

That prob u see in my pic is very expensive I use it for that and my land smoker cooker I cook tons of meat in. Lu's I use another digital thermo to check water temp around jars. A steady 165 keeps jars at 162. Pretty good I think. Imo

That's why I changed it up dude. I now have.the ability to keep temps nominal. Before without jars it was 170 then let sit. Any lower or higher I got contams before first flush. Not due to spawn either I ruled that out a long time ago. But with the jars and.pillow vase method I kinda.made up myself. A little. It seems to work way better at keeping.temps.exact. I'll keep you posted though and.maybe.post.my new tek on the.forums

Yeah if it turns out well I may.write it up. I mean its a little easyer I think than most teks similar to it. And to me pretty damn simple to get right. And hard to get wrong. After a couple of trials it works good I'll post ot
