Hah, that's what I had to do with the other plates I transferred to. A tiny bit of water was pooled up on the side, I made sure to pour it out. I've heard using glass jars works a lot better with little to no condensation. I might try that for my next round of agar.

Hmm good point. I guess I'll try bringing down the pressure slower, I heard this method can also reduce condensation. Need to see what works!!

My glass jar still had condensation. And cutting out agar isn't that much more difficult than Tiger dropping.

Yeah I know, I've got to improve on my techniques. This is my first attempt, so hopefully all goes well.

Yea I don't mind cutting from jars at all. When I do my agar in glass jars I rarely get condensation, and if I do, it all dissipates by the next day.

made my first round of agar about a week ago. didnt see a lot of condensation. but i poured them WAY too thick and i was practicing and opened a few to check the consistency. after that a cooked 2 more batches. all in 1/4 pint jars. i had condensation with those. but it did evaporate in like a day or two. but then again i havent even perfected or had any real decent practice with it so hey. what do i kno..

It's all good man, just gotta have more practice, and follow the vids by Munch to a T. Hopefully my good SAB sterile techniques will pay off! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I just don't see it being as easy for me as petri dishes though I have the same exacto knife as you psilo and if I tilt it too far vertical without lots of angle it rubbs the myc off the.agar instead of cutting it. With Pettis I can lean that knife down and it cuts perfect. Deeper the dish the higher the angle. Do you have that problem at all?

vag,
That's a huge issue I had for a while. I changed my agar recipe for harder agar and also poured my plates thicker. Now I can cut a circle and pull it out no problem!

I'll give that a shot man. I just kinda think that I need a better blade. Like a curved one or something. But I'll deffinatly give ur way a try.

A curved blade would definitely make it easier to slice into the agar in one swipe and lightly scoop it out without having to stab the agar on the tip of the blade to transfer to your other plates. I might make a trip to the arts and crafts store tomorrow and look for different blades.

Not exactly blades, but look into 'wax carvers' on Amazon or somewhere. There are some interestingly shaped tools that should have applications for agar work.

You guys should seriously just work on your technique and try changing the agar. I had a huge issue with this as well until I dialed in the aforementioned things. Now the shit plops out no problem.
