Walking in the yard.....
    #22231746 - 09/13/15 01:22 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Far west Idaho,

Tons of these little pumpkin lookin shrooms. None more than 1½" tall. Neatly tucked under a canopy of tough weeds of some kind. None of them penetrate to open air. They are only located within close proximity to sprinklers.

⅔ of Stem is very dark turning lighter towards the cap. Rather fragile.

Gills are quite far apart.

See photos

Edible? Active? Deadly?

Spore print was non productive.

Looks like a Marasmius species.

Cool, hope they are. Looking for non active edibles. Mainly for seasonal cooking. Tripping over some cybes might be fun cooking too.

Other than Marasmius oreades, I'm not sure which members of the genus are edible.

I consider them all to be edible except for Marasmius nigrodiscus.    Innocent until proven guilty.

I can't imagine these are big enough to be worth eating though?

Nice clear photos, what kind of camera & lens are you using?

They'd be flavor accents, there are probably a couple hundred of them. Was thinking about putting them in a salad.

LoL, my dad would say its not a "real" camera. It's my phones camera, but I know how/when to use it.

I try to take my pictures in low indirect light. These were taken before 7am. Just after sunrise, still using flash.

The phone is an Lg Volt, camera is 8mp. I use the 6mp setting mostly. It has a manual focus which makes it much easier to macro.

I can't see them with my naked eye usually, but some pics show several thrips which are less than 2mm.

Just below the crack, can even see antenna
