Hey I just found these on grassy woodland in Michigan and need an identification. Im a super amatuer hunter but I'm pretty sure they are all the same species. The enviroment has been 55 to 75 degrees lately. It has rained a decent amount the last week or so. These shrooms have a orange/yellowish sticky textured cap with white/brownish freckles. The grills are white underneath also. Can anyone help me out? Are they poisonous? Or psychedelic? Or even edible?

*dont listen to me - i'm just here to learn, like you!*
my guess is amanita muscaria var. guessowii/formosa
maybe a TI can confirm my thoughts on that.
if all variations of muscaria are to be treated the same as one another then my knowledge is that you can parboil the mushroom to eat safely. however, if you incorrectly parboil it then you run the risk of an experience that some seek but not exactly that of a psilocybe mushroom - often vomiting occurs and the psychedelic experience is less psychedelic and more delirious than spiritual.
hopefully that is helpful and not a ton of nonsense.

They are technically psychoactive...however they do not contain psilocybin. It would be important to do your research before consuming this mushroom for either its active or edible properties. There are a few threads here on the shroomery that offer some insite on the ingredients such as muscimol muscarine and ibotenic acid often found in these species at different levels. It is also important to know that it is classified as a deleriant not a psychedelic under the hallucinogen class...and also runs the risk of more unwanted side affects including nausea vommiting and profuse sweating and salivation in some people...I personally love them and pick them all the time. But please please as always do research and seek approval from a TI before any consumption. Good luck. Happy hunting.
