Do you let the needle cool before injecting the lc? Are you saying you haven't had any luck with A2G either?

so far ive found, corn, beans, brown chunks of what looks like some kind of pellet, straw. and it says triple cleaned. but these oats are as dirty as the wbs i get.
race horse oats. some right out of the bag look like that when i put em in water they show better.
TSC oats are clean

Yeah, but I've had no luck with LC, either. Trust me, I really follow teks to the letter. I'm experimental by nature, but I start at a known beginning and get results there, for a baseline, before I start monkeying with it. I've had several attempts at LC, with different strains, and after weeks, they are just blobs of matter sitting at the bottom, despite many, many stirrings. So the one jar I have with 10 days after LC noccing is fahgeddaboudit. So, back to square one, again.
Three jars of agar slices, after 7 days. Zero growth. Grains sticking to the drop even, with no myc. Again, back to square one.
The good news is this batch of grain in small jars did work, from inoculation with LI from an agar plate.

Go figure. I'm stumped.

You just need more Btus. I can't attach a photo at the moment but I use a 502 Coleman Stove single burner. 10,500btus. Thing is like a jet engine, gets water boiling fierce in like 7 minutes.

Hey I'm having a devil of a time finding what I'm searching for and this thread is still seeing action so I'm going to ask here as I'm using this tek. Is it possible to dry your oats out too much after the second bath? I did it last night at around 10, then laid them out on a towel in a room with just the ceiling fan going. Then I woke up and went to work. So its been about 18 hours?

Take your thumbnail and try to split a kernel in half. If it is easy to split in half than the moisture content is good.

I did this prep last night but instead of bringing to a boil in a pot I used an electric pressure cooker on high for 10 minutes.
Released the cover and poured the oats in the water that way. added some gypsum on top and put the cover back on. This was about 930pm.
This morning.. 7:45am I checked the temperature. It was 104 degrees. I could pinch the oat and this mush came out of the shell. Do you think these are okay to use?
Also what is the final 30 second boil step for? To get it up to temp so it will steam dry a bit?

Is probably fine, and yes, its to steam dry. You can skip that and just let them hang out on a strainer for a while. They don't have to be as dry as rye, but you still don't want to make a soup in your jars.

90 minutes @ 20psi is good. I do 2 hours at about 17psi now.

[url=http://files.shroomery.org/files/15-38/253938292-20150917_211849.jpg][imell.. Inocuole.. I think my grains were pretty wet when I loaded them in the jars. I grew impatient (facepalm)I don't see any type of pooling water in the jars but there is condensation on the walls here and there. I'm using LC so the extra 2ml of solution probably doesn't help either.
I'll make another batch up tonight. Going to try soaking them in boiling water for 30 minutes, pull em and lettem dry that way.
I'll take a picture or two tonight when I get home.

Updated soak times and added shortcut involving half-skipping the drying and hot water altogether.
Still a good idea to dry them properly the first few times but once you get the hang of it and start gauging when the oats are ABOUT to be done, it's fine to just throw them wet in the jars. YMMV based on exactly how hydrated the oats were prior to straining.

Yea. I gotta say inoc, you turned me on to em...so far. I prep them differently and i haven't seen or tested fruits from them yet. But so far so good. Just spawned some this morning and they smelled SO good. Break apart super easily. I think way less prone to bacteria than rye. Thank you :fingerscrossed:
