Oregon ID... edible and another? 9/12/15
    #22227746 - 09/12/15 04:03 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Hey There All
I went into the woods this a.m. I wasn't hunting but I always keep mi eyes open..
I would love to get confirmation that these are a Pleurotus Ostreatus variety. They are one of my favorite edibles and It's been too long since I last found a wild patch..

-Growing off a log...   in an Oregon forest
-White spores - it took no time to show up on black piece o paper
- sweet mushroomy anise smell
- gills run right down

The slugs Love em!

This one I've been trying to look up all day. The Orange caught mi eye as I was passing by.
I had to stop n photo these fungi

-Growing out of a dead tree stump that's connected next to a live tree. I think there were 2 side by side and only 1 remains
-Orange color cap... yes just like the fruit
-Gills were an off white/ yellowish and seem to come out over the rim
-the Stipe is a trippy yellogreenish
- that is all I didn't want to disturb it more but hopefully I can get back n take some better photos

Thank You

Maybe the last one is something like Pluteus aurantiorugosus, its a cool looking mushroom. The first ones look like Oysters.

Hey Thanks again maynardjameskeenan for helping me with information!
I'm leaving the oysters for the bugs and germination. When it's wetter I will go back but for now I have a few for prints as I'd like to Wildcraft them and grow em closer to home.

I'm looking into Pluteus aurantiorugosus, its a very interesting n rare find if it is..
Plus  I'm finding European references. Definitely going back to get a print and some more photos so I can research this one further.

I've never seen anything like it around here personally.
Pluteus aurantipes, Pluteus laetus, Pluteus nevadensis, Pluteus laetifrons, Pluteus flammipes and Pluteus horakianus are said to be similar species.
Definitely worth going back to get, cool find!
