How much light does a mushroom need to start growing?

Today is day four since I put my brf cakes in my sgfc. I have the chamber by my window and its getting sunlight 12 on and 12 off. I mist and fan whenever the cakes look dry and they still havent pinned yet. Are they getting to much light or am I fanning too much? Theyre cubensis if that helps any.

the light is right, fanning sounds good. Was it ready to fruit? I put a mono tub to fruit to early and it took longer to pin but got these nice fruits from it. just took like two weeks to start to pin.

Yes, I waited a week after full colonization, dunked and rolled them, and put them in the sgfc

1/4 in holes on all sides 2 in apart. Is ur chamber to specs? is it near a wall? Keep ur sgfc at least 6 inches from a wall on all sides for optimal growth. Could u take a picture? I'm asking cause afoaf works with cakes all the time maybe a pic would help see whats wrong. Sometimes it just takes a while though.

Yes I have holes in all 5 sides plus the lid, each about two inches apart, and the box is more than 6 inches from anything. I followed all the instructions so im almost positive its not the sgfc. I have about an inch or inch and a half of perlite bc four seemed too excessive for three cakes.

The only problem I have noticed is that almost all the vermilulite has came off of it bc of misting, if that even is a problem

Probably, there should not be signifcant enough force to knock off verm... If you're knocking the verm off you are probably also bruising the cakes

If it's a sgfc. Ur best bet is no matter the size or amount of cakes you should have about 5 inches of perlite. However I am only saying that because it's specified in the tek. If it were me id put 5 inches no matter what.

Add 4-5 inches of perlite and chill. It'll happen when it happens just continue your misting and fanning.

And I do see bruising on the cakes, will they heal or will it stay like that? And will mushrooms grow on a bruised spot?

I read online and from what I read im misting the cakes too much and too close to the cakes causing bruising. Also I measured the perlite and its 2 and a half inches

You should put more in because its not a properly built SGFC unless you do. If u don't use the right specs then anything bad that happens can't be attributed to anything else.

OP do you have pics of said bruising? I'll give you a hint too.. they must be glistening all the time (water beeds and verm dark. No pooling water. Pooling water is too much). Perlite 4 inches deep, and fluffed up a bunch. Run a hand rake through it every so often. Make sure the bottom holes are not clogged and blocking airflow. I'd use beer cans on the 4 corners to get it raised off the surface a few inches at least.

Bottom holes are unclogged and the chamber is off the ground.I tried to take a pic but the bruising is too light to see in the pic

Sometimes it just takes a while for pinning. Bruising can also be caused by drying. Sometimes, you'll see bruising and then yellowing as the myc gets drier.
If you sprayed the vermiculite off, you may struggle keeping the humidity up at the surface, where it really maters most. Evaporation off the surface helps maintain humidity at the surface and the vermiculite acts as a moisture reservoir for continued evaporation. Without it, you have to mist more often because the surface is not retaining enough moisture.
Regardless of the RH in the SGFC, the cakes can still dry too fast because of the constant FAE.
Less perlite means it may lose all it's moisture before the growth cycle ends.

And it doesnt really stay at 90. It goes to 100 and sometimes drops to 70 but 90 is usually where it stays at for awhile

Patience...I've had cakes that pinned in the jar even before consolidation. On the other hand, I've had fully consolidated cakes sit in fruiting conditions for 1.5 weeks before progressing. Just keep doing what you're doing and let this ancient being do what it does. Patience is important in this hobby...it gets easier with time and experience.
