Liars
    #2222532 - 01/06/04 10:29 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I am an adult and havent lived wiith my parents for many years.I do still call and see my mom and dad on a regular basis. The problem i have is with my mom.
She lies alot.Heres an example:She tells me she is coming down to visitme on a friday at 2pm.Friday 2pm comes and goes then 3pm then 4 pm then 5pm....all the way untill 730pm(I am trying to call her home and cell phone throughout this time but get no answer).Ok now im starting to worry,i worry alot anyway. So finally at 730pm she answers the phone.when i ask what happened she tells me this whole story about how the car broke down and that she had to walk so far blah blah blah blah....ect.Well the first thing i ask is why she didnt call me to come get her, well blah blah blah her cell phone happened to not work..ect..well to be honest i have doubts in my mind about several things(and based on the fact that shes done stuff like this many times before)but i said ok and let it go.
Well the next day im talking to my dad(he didnt know my mom had made plans the prevous day to come to my house)and i ask him how much it will cost to fix the car,he says the car is fine, come to find out my mom decided to go to the Casino with a friend to play bingo,so she made the whole thing up!
It hurts but doesnt suprise me because i cant count the times i have caught her in lies, but i dont understand it.
When i asked her she said it was because i would have got mad.1st of all thats BS the only reason i was mad was because i sat there all afternoon and evening waiting and was unable to smoke the whole day,and also because i was worried.I tried to explain to her for the ten millonth time that when i end up catching her in the lie, which i usually do that then im really mad because i have been lied to.
Her response was her usual, she yelled"who are you to tell me what i can and cant do,you are a grown man, leave me alone!" and she hung up the phone. When i called her back all she said was"like your an angel and never lie" i said that even if i did once and a while, which i try not to do,there is a differance if its family and at least thats how i feel.but no she hung up and didnt answer the phone all day.
I gave up im use to it and even though it sucks i have come to the conclusion after many many years of this that nothing is gonna change sow what can i do.And its not just to me my father is constantly fighting with her because of lies.Maybe its a sickness with her i dont know.
It just sucks, your mother is suppose to be the one person you can always coount on and depend on,no matter how old you are.
She gets mad at me because i dont let me little boy spend the night there very often, well i mean can you blame me,i dont want him growing up believing lieing is fine. And she lies even to him, telling him that she will take him places then not showing up.
It makes me sad,for myself and for him,im an adult he doesnt understand why grandma doesnt ever keep her word.

damn that really sucks, someone we were all friends with has turned out to be lying about almost everything she has said, then adds more lies.. in this case saying she was pregnant.

I dont really get why people see the need to lie on a regular basis, especially when its anything vaguely important to their friends or family .

exactly and people that do lie lie so much sometimes they even lie about absolutly stupid things that there is no reason to even lie about.i cant stand liars. i guess unfortunatly it is part of life, what you gonna do?
I just try to live my life as honest as i can and raise my son that way and hope he understands not to do what his grandmother does.

That sucks... she is a chronic liar. Thats a hard habit to break especially since she is old. Tell her you need to trust her and you would rather hear the truth even if she thinks it will hurt you.

My adopted mom (dont know my real mom) is nasty to me, her lies are small white lies, what sucks is she selects to tell only the "bad truth". Whenever I'm visiting with company or whatever, she will never say anything positive about me, just bring up all the negative stuff, like when I was sick and anything humiliating or embarassing. Its fucking depressing to be around her. My brother (who is not adopted), she has nothing but praise for.

It's funny how the tables turn. How the child becomes the parent. That's all that is.

I find my friend always tells me bullshit stories. I always know when he is lying, but I don't say anything. It's funny how a person will tell more lies just to get out of being caught in one (lie).

Yeah I've known these types of people. It just doesn't make sense when they seem to lie for no reason. I think it's likned to low self esteem. She could be a pathological liar. Often times these people just make it up on the spot, sometimes it's unintentional and the words just come out wrong for them.

I don't really know what to tell yah but I know how it is.

Here in America, we call those people 'bullshitters'.

I gotta friend like this too, everybody in our circle of friends see's how depressed he is and we are all trying to help him see his loops he get's himself into but it seem's like he is completely oblivious to what he is ever talking about. It is sad.
