Attempting to reanimate a shroom on an agar plate. Please help!
    #22224474 - 09/11/15 09:49 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Hello! I have this shroom left over and wanted to know if I can clone or reanimate the mycelium on an agar plate. I have been told by a few people on here that it can be done because their is no way I can get a spore print in CA. I've also read a thread on this topic but I can't find it now I will link it later. Please let me know any info I have never grown these and really want to have my own supply without having to get it from someone. Any suggestions I will update here when my agar plates come in. Thank you!

If it was dried using a dehydrator, fat chance, that's likely to have killed all the mycelium.  Otherwise just take a piece from the inside of the stem and drop that on agar and see what happens.

Wolf Link seems to be having reservations about it though.  Unless Midna is on that statue, then he's just making that face because there's a midget on his back calling him derogatory things.

Ah, yeah, I suppose you would want to hydrate it with some sterile water first.

Then do a warm pour over it. Trap the bacteria under the agar and kill the mold with the heat of the pour.

Are these the right agar plates? I already ordered them but not sure if these are right.

http://www.amazon.com/EZ-BioResearch-Pre-poured-Plates-Science/dp/B004MKHNJK/ref=sr_1_5/186-0302078-7184953?ie=UTF8&qid=1442033792&sr=8-5&keywords=agar

If these are not right then can you please direct me to some pre-made agar plates. Thanks! This is my fist time learning any of this so do I just mixed alcohol with water and dip some gills inside? Should I leave it over night?

You can't use a pre poured plate to do a warm pour. You need to pour it yourself.

:nodofunderstanding: in that case I'd also suggest no premade plates either

So did I waste my money on those or can I still experiment and see if there is any growth on them? I also heard you can keep transferring to get a clean growth. Thanks!
