Does this agar look right?

My first go using the pastywhytes method. Swabbed from spore print. Used 2 different prints and 6 out of 8 dishes look like this, no not 2 different per container. I may have gone a little over board on some of the agar with the swab. Please let me know. Thanks!

With me, I had bad sterile procedure at the time (didn't take it as serious as I shoulda). For you, who knows. I would wait tho for someone else to give their opinion. I haven't been doing agar too long. But I do know what healthy growth looks like and that aint it.

Is it possible the micropore tape I used wasn't so porous that it couldn't breath? I made 1 quarter inch hole and used what I was told comparable micropore tape.

My thoughts are,Too much water pooling/rolling around on top...try letting it cool a little more before you pour it into the dishes to help cut down on condensation... just my uneducated guess.

No. I wouldn't think so. The 1/4 inch hole in the lid that is taped over with micropore tape is mainly there so the pressure cooker doesnt crush the mini rounds. It wasnt a design for GE.

Idk about the tape. I pour my plates. But your swabs were covered in bacteria. Trash it. Next time i suggest making a syringe and putting 1 drop on the plate.

I see agar slopped all up the walls of that mini round, covered with that bacteria oozing down... What up with that?

Ditch it and try again. If you're gonna try from a print again, try a loop instead of a swab?

Oh yeah, 100% bacteria, but that's normal when you're first getting started. In fact, here's my first plate last November. Looks familiar, eh?

Did you use just 1 drop of spores? Also when doing spores i like to use 2 or 3 dishes in case 1 of them does go bacterial.

You are right I am a noob, that's why I am asking these questions. Thanks for the insight though it has contributed to my thread.

I like how you purposefully edited out the punchline of my post basically and made it seem like I was being serious. Good stuff there.
Was just confirming that we've all had that particular thing happen for you.
