Cobweb on a cased tray of P. Cubensis Australian
    #22223349 - 09/11/15 06:05 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Hey everyone. After almost a year of struggle I have finally got some sexy shrooms growing but today realised I almost certainly have a cobweb problem. If it is cobweb will the 3% H2O2 work when I have the pins and shrooms growing? Can I let the tray finish the first flush and wash the shrooms or use H2O2 to clean them for consumption?

The next step will (was) to take spore prints of the best caps then isolate using petri dishes and agar. Given the contamination perhaps slicing a tissue sample from the core of the stem might be the best way to avoid the cobweb getting into the dish?

The tray is WBS with horse manure/vermiculite as the substrate and cased with Perlite/peat moss. All RR methods.

Thank you.

You don't see those spiders building them webs???
 Juuss kiiiddin....

This was my main problem back in the day.  I did find the H202 worked sometimes, and many others it didn't, but I had bad horrible air exchange.  If you increase your Fresh Air Exchange and use the H202 I think you may come out of this on top.

Are you using a SGFC? Use the search engine to see how to properly apply H202 and to see what a SGFC is if you don't already know

Cobweb is general term.  What I got stalled out my growth so I didn't get mature fruits.  Ur cobweb may not stall your fruits out, but it still needs addressed as soon as possible.
Are your boomers still growing???
Or have they stalled out?

Cobweb will only get worse if not addressed. YOU NEED AIR and peroxide

Let us know how its going!

Hi Confuzzed. Thanks for the reply.

I am using a SGFC, the standard set up of a tub with 1/4" holes drilled 2" apart on all 6 sides and elevated so there should be plenty of FAE. I have a pic below. I just put an aquarium light (full spectrum for plants) on the top yesterday as I saw the shrooms were leaning towards the window. The fruits are looking good and the boomers are still growing although they look like they are about to peak so they are kinda small. About 2.5". Perhaps a lack of light attributed to that.

I found this article last night which describes my problem near perfectly - albeit a very old thread. I sprayed one tray last night at close range to let the H2O2 soak into the case and this morning it looks pretty good. So I have repeated that on the other 2 trays and gave a light mist on the surface of the first. I'll repeat again tonight and tomorrow morning for the 2 others, as per RR's guide in that other thread. I guess I can't expect to remove it totally but if I can keep it at bay for a few flushes I'll consider that 1-0 to me.

So how's it going?

I love h202... Worked wonders for my hydroponics issues as well. It does degrade plant soil to quickly IMO though...

Is it working for you?
