An investigation initiated by the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport Police Department and FedEx has resulted in the arrest of three people in Mason County, Kentucky.
Mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs said a search warrant was executed at the home of Teresa Tolle, 47, and Christopher Rudd, 38, on Pole Cat Pike Wednesday as part of the investigation.
The investigation began because of the volume of packages being sent to the address on Pole Cat Pike from an out-of-state address, all of which were being shipped via FedEx.
Authorities noted five packages in the last three to four weeks have been delivered to the home occupied by Tolle, Rudd and Tolle's son, Monte Wisecup, 27.
During the search, one firearm was seized along with 114 packages of suspected synthetic marijuana, Boggs said. Scales, packaging material and one marijuana plant were also seized.
The suspected synthetic marijuana has been sent to a state crime lab for analysis, which will also determine if the substance has been laced with heroin or other illegal drugs.
On Thursday, Wisecup, who had a warrant against him from Harrison County, was arrested at the residence. Boggs said Wisecup could face charges related to the synthetic marijuana. For now, he has been incarcerated in the Mason County Detention Center on a probation violation.
Tolle faces charges of trafficking in synthetic drugs, tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia and cultivation of marijuana less than five plants.
Rudd has been charged with one count trafficking in synthetic drugs.
As of Thursday, Tolle and Rudd were incarcerated at MCDC; both are scheduled to appear in Mason County District Court at 9 a.m., Sept. 14.
Mason County Deputy Josh German is in charge of the investigation.

Apparently, getting too many packages is grounds for an investigation now.

That's what stood out for me in the article as well.
There has to be more to it than that, that's pretty fucked up they went solely on that alone..

I thought it was funny they mention heroin for no reason just to make it sound scarier.

Never ship via Fedex or UPS. Stick with the postal service.

Likewise. I know reporters are often terrible for this kind of thing, but that has to be the most far out suggestion I've seen for some time. What next, mushrooms laced with crack?

5 packages in over a month isn't even a lot. I get 4 to 5 packages every month myself between my parents sending me things and stuff I buy on EBay\Amazon.

Shit, I used to get 5-10 packages a day at a few points, because I was ordering tons of Magic the Gathering off that auction site.
There was definitely more to the situation than they are saying.

Note to self 5 packages being delivered in 3 or 4 weeks is now criminally suspicious. I smell a rat.
