Exactly. I cant identify everything but Mad season has got it down aparently. I see him in here a lot, i believe at one time he said identifying contams was one of the most enjoyable aspects of cultivation

U kidding? I'm way more nooby with contaminations than I'd like to be. I always feel like I need more practice, and a scope lol. I agree with ppp tho that it is a lot closer to aspergillus.
And hell yeah. I love contaminations xD. Definitely one of the most enjoyable parts of this for me.

I didnt mention if you were any good at it
Jk you are.
I just had a pe6 tub trick out from using bacterial spawn. Not a big deal cause I can really use the tub and I still have the original culture

Nah trich can grow on any medium we use. It just so happens to rip mycelium apart lol.
What's cool about trich is that the shit we see (white puffy shit) is just its aerial myc. Its regular mycelium is so faint and grey many have even mistaken it for cobweb as well as mycelium. This also makes it hella hard to find when it's growing alongside mycelium.

Looks pretty similar to myc until stressed (in grain jars, shaken up)
Oh and why there's rarely any trich in grains is because there's actually a relatively low amount of trich in the air. Aspergillus and penicillium take up much more of the air than trichoderma ever will, and come into grains more often because of user error. This just goes to show how aggressive trich is when it comes to bulk substrates eh? Since it's the most common bulk sub contamination IMO.

Cool info! Is trich a parasitic fungi? I think I heard about something like it attacking and "eating" mycelium of other fungi.
