Ya i wasn't necessarily saying what he has is flavus, just that flavus is one example with white myc.
I may be, and probably am, wrong. Just sayin that there are hundreds of species of aspergillus and i wouldn't rule it out haha.

Hey when putting salt paste on trich should I put a sheet of a paper towel to absorb the water it pulls out?

well… yes. If you must salt a trich spot. I hope you're already into a flush and the spot is small. Otherwise, there's no point in trying to save it, brother man.

Don't get me wrong I'm not going to claim to be able to name more than a handful of aspergillus species myself. But from what I have seen of it, most of them have a super disorganised pattern of growth that is really fast. Not that it doesn't mean that there are not species that fall into that description.
To be honest I'm not even certain the coloration is spores on that plate. If not it's possible that it could be some species of higher fungi. An odd looking contam to be sure.

yeah it's super odd looking. It's the main contam coming out of my plates here. A friend gave me some cultures, and the transfers either come out very clean, or have these growths. It's crazy.

I think those are spores, I used to get that a lot when I was working in a SAB. Probably the one I used to get the most. It's fucking crazy how the middle of the contam grows upward and gets those "water" droplets on them. I've seen those turn into some really wierd colours, had one drop that was almost red.
Got no fucking idea which green mold that would be, it's never even the same colour anyway. I never say I have trich when I get a moldy tub or tray because of that. I would love to get my hams on a microscope one day, contaminations are a part of this hobby, for better or worse. Might just as well learn from them, right?

Dankington. With your contam picture is that good mycelium in the middle? And how did you dertermine it to be contam before the water drops. Was it colour, irregular growth, texture.

I mean, you saw it too, right? The growth was all irregular, and this is supposed to be a fairly isolated culture. So, I could tell by the quickness of growth. Once it sporulated, I wasn't touching it anymore (that's the color change). So I popped it out and took a pic.
Basically, I've learned to do about twice what I think I'll need. That way I don't feel to bad about chucking things out.

It's been there for like 3 months, didn't contam until a month-month and a half after making it. Didn't touch it or anything after I inoculated it with a galindoi syringe from this bunk vial I had to try and get some germination. It's possible that the mold was introduced by the inoculant but a month and a half seems too much for this scenario.
What's wierd is that the jar is fitted with a SFD Dunno what the fuck made it grow mold. Gonna leave it chilling over there for a while, just for shits and giggles.

I was given an azure spore syringe recently and put a few drops on agar and got this:

I suspect it's yeast, appeared within a day. I started on some alternate methods in an attempt to get these spores going but oddly enough it seems at least something germinated under that mess of orange shit as there is mycelium appearing at the edges of a few of the dots.
