At least they don't smell.
Bury em, in aus there is a good chance they will fruit outside.

I'll give it a go, they were headed for the compost anyway. Speaking of which, bury them in the compost? Or on the edge of the lawn? How deep should I bury them? just cover the top with a thin layer of something? I don't think they will do anything outside as I reckon we are a bit cold now but I don't really care as all a learning thing.

They should be fine unless you're in tasmania then maybe it's a bit cold.
There isn't much to it really, back of the garden with an inch of compost or something covering sounds about right. I would be guessing if I gave specifics as I've never done it, definitely too cold in england most of the year.
Have a search for an outdoor tek for contaminated or spent cakes, it's a fairly common topic, shouldn't be hard to find some good info.

This sfd has 3 holes in it (2 visible in this pic). This grain jar now has the beginning of a mite infestation.
I've been having major issues with mites almost since the day I started in terms of my fruiting chambers. Now apparently they have learned how to bore through sfds. They go for grains, fresh or spent grains it doesn't matter to them, they also go for horse manure to a lesser extent. I've broken open horse manure nuggets that sat around dry for months to find the center infested with mites.
They don't care for healthy mycelium or grains colonized with healthy mycelium, by the time the first flush is over with the myc on the grains is starting to weaken and seems to be mite-infestable.

Damn, and I thought my mite infestation was bad. The ones I have are only able to go through my quart pp5s and parafilm wrapped petris. They don't seem to touch my bulk althought that's in a different room. They were never able to get through my jars though, that shit's insane.
I agree, there doesn't have to be any food for them to go into something, if it's humid enough, they will go anywhere. Summer is a bitch for mycology.

I would literally just throw the entire jar and all in the garage. Kinda like what I did with my old reishi myc. You just get to a point where you're tired of stabbing reishi myc with a knife continuously. I'd make a bad serial killer lol
