Wtf is that kizzle?
Cobweb disease. I've been seeing a lot of it lately. Fortunately it's mainly in the later flushes when the substrate is pretty much spent anyway.

Wow, it's refreshing to see the word cobweb accompanied by pics of actual cobweb and not just some tomentose mycelium. Sucks about fighting it tho but the value in these pics is undoubtedly there.

Anyone know if this looks like yeast/bacterial contam? Dunno if you'll be able to see it in pic but it looks like very small white dots.

Doesn't look like any bacteria I've seen before since the spots seem dry. The mycelium is regular oyster mycelium. This is my first time growing these but I noticed none of tje other jars have these white spots so far. Probably won't use it in any case since I need the best looking jars to do g2g. I am just curious if it is a contam since it is pretty hard to spot in a jar filled with mycelium.
I'm on my phone so can't see too clearly but some oysters will make little balls that kind of look like yeast, but there is no bacteria in there

Yeah I figured it isn't bacteria due to lack of moisture, and the mycelium does seem healthy.
I only thought about it being yeast because it came up in a thread yesterday and I looked up what yeast contam looks like.
Unlike the pics I saw of yeast contam, these white dots are where the grains are colonised but I'm not sure if they formed after colonisation or something the mycelium grew over. They do look similar though.
My main reason for thinking it's not normal is because none of the other oyster jars seem to have them. They might get them later if it is normal as you say.
I like how oyster grows phenomenally fast so I don't mind not using this jar just in case. I do however have about 30 jars, all inoculated with wedges and all made last month and none show signs of any type of contam so it may as well be nothing.

I'm going to spray some h202 on these and spawn them to a sterilized hpoo casing... Then fruit them in my custom automated fruiting chamber, it's got 6 fish tanks bubblers and the humidity stays at 100%... I learned it from youtube... Stay tuned...

I almost took this seriously.
My contamed jars usually look pretty gnarly as well. I usually leave them there for a long time before I decide to PC them. Normally only do so when I need the jars
Pretty sure I still have a couple of contaminated pint jars from last year, don't use pints much now so I never had a reason to get rid of them.

Trashing a perfectly good jar is a terrible waste IMO. To be honest, I never had jars that bad but I probably wouldn't throw them away even if I did.
I never had a contaminated jar that smelled bad during PCing but they do have a funky smell most of the time once opened.

Fucking god dammit my tamps I have 3 quarts that haven't shown signs yet but the other 3 and 4 of my half pints got this shit going on.

When I dumped them outside.. I saw the spores fly everywhere... It was the most terrifying thing I've ever seen.

Which is a what, kind of problem? Improper sterilization or bad inoculate? Probably the inoculate because I don't see how my PC run could be the problem. I do 90 mins minimum, not to mention the time it takes to get up to pressure which is hella long for my mirro on my gas burner.

Okay well then it might be meshed in with the culture. Time to look at them very critically.

It could be. I used a first transfer because it looked clean and had some nice growth. But maybe the contam wasn't showing yet.
This is another plate from the first transfer I was keeping around to see if it would pin. It is actually showing some suspect things in 3 distinct spots, tough to see but you can make it out if you know that you are looking from top down.

This one is second transfer. Condensation is in the way i refrigerated because I was going to use it for a master culture. But it looks like nice clean, healthy tomentoes

I think i'm going to use the second transfer plate agar > master. Fail safe because I don't have high hopes for the remaining pp5s. Then in a few weeks I can G2G a new round of jars.
