Was your reishi growing on pine?

Compare the second polypore to Phellinus gilvus

It is on a dead hardwood stump, the first picture was taken about three months ago and then the last picture was yesterday

Phellinus species will have orange/brown pore surfaces.

Here's a good entry on delineating between Trametes, which is what I believe you have: http://www.mushroomexpert.com/trametes_versicolor.html

They are considered way too tough to be "edible", but people make tea and tinctures from them. In that aspect almost all polypores are edible, the only poisonous polypores I've heard of are in the genus Hapalopilus.
Polypores can still cause GI upset in some people and shouldn't be consumed raw as they can cause food poisoning.

The first species looks like a Pleurotus from what I see, I unfortunately don't come across these often enough so wait for a second opinion from someone who does and can confirm.
