Kratom on Dr. Phil
    #22222622 - 09/11/15 03:34 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Just saw the beginning of a Dr. Phil show and this lady does kava and kratom.  Then there's a news clip that says "it produces a high like cocaine and is addictive just like heroin"

Wonderful   this is all kratom needs.  A bunch of lies about the drug and a crazy women that uses it that makes it look worse then it is.

After watching more they are really slamming it.  And so far the lady doesn't seem that bad.

Now they just said she uses adderall like oh that's fine, but the kratom will FUCKING KILL YOU!

I don't really want to watch dr. Phil but I might have to finish the episode.

I'd say krat is more like coffee mixed with a light dose of hydrocodone or morphine. I'd wager more people are hooked on coffee than krat and have a worse time dropping the habit. One time a younger guy handed me a coffee at Tim's and I said "Thanks for the drugs man!" Then he was like, "No problem!"

I hate how they just make up shit and demonize a drug to sell what there putting out there.  I mean benadryl could be a date rape drug.  All pharmaceuticals are ok though.  If you got money you can control anything, media, government, whatever.

Well I'm about half way through the show and the lady who does the kratom and alcohol looks and sounds alot better then her husband who looks like a complete jackass.

Maybe spoke too late there's another person trashing her about being a bum.  But she has held her own.

Goooooooo Krat heads!

Hyperbole and hysteria---both have been cornerstone of drug policy and public discussion of such since day one. "Let's impart enough fear in people that only the truly stupid will dare to use drugs".

Clearly this logic is flawed due to the flagrant misinformation that has been fed to the public. These campaigns, based on fear, seem to be loosing significant credibility as the public takes the time to educate themselves. That said--there will always be people that believe what they are spoon fed. Shame on Dr Phil for contributing further to these practices.

I wonder if the "dr" in his title comes from a doctorate in swaying public opinion AKA a bullshitter degree :mad2:

I hope people don't take this crap seriously but I am sure many do  pretty sure my ex watched DR phil, I wonder if shes glad I never got her to try krat now :tongue2: Its really ironic becouse she had anxiety problems and other things kratom definitely could have helped with. Meanwhile she is smoking cigarettes daily and down to drink alcohol or do coke

Some peoples logic is mind blowing to me :rofl2:

Get a cutting or three as well mayhaps, they can be pretty pricey though on many sites

I definitely want to get some kilo's buried for when they finally try to drop the ban hammer.

Thankfully with the info available on the internet it may never happen though (fingers crossed) its harder for them to misinform people than with say the cannabis prohibition.

If everyone had been able to go online and read all the facts back when they were pushing scare tactics down everyone's throats it would have not gone down the same.

At least I hope not.

I don't do much kratom these days but I was thinking about making a decent sized purchase. My only concern would be keeping it fresh.  Does anyone know the best way to store krat?  I got some in a Tupper wear container in my freezer now and it's like a frozen block.  I don't know if it will be any good when it thaws.

I just leave mine in the bag and usually leave it out or in a cupboard somewhere

I imagine vacuum sealing it somewhere dark and cool would be plenty safe it not overkill potentially.

I don't really know though, I have never noticed much of a potency loss in the stuff I have after weeks to months of sitting around.

His ship sailed.

Also Kratom is decent, but to me addiction is addiction. When I do Kratom I have a strong urge to do it every day, like oxy but cheaper and a shittier high. So I personally don't care for it anymore.

That said it definitely needs to stay legal. They should be using it for WD's instead of subs.

Ya kratom should most definitely be used to ween off opiates instead of subs. Subs are bad new and they just create another bad addiction with possibly worse withdrawals.  And they hand those things out like candy.  People are prescribed 3 8 mg pills a day. That's a crazy amount and even the even the biggest habits don't need 24 mg of sub a day to feel good.

The government genuinely does not have concerns over kratom. The pharmaceutical industries that lobby the government, however, is a different story.

Kratom is not competing with legit opiates that is propoganda.

The kratom user demographic is a very small niche and the pharm compagnies could give two fucks about it.

So what interests do you believe the government has in making kratom illegal? For the moral superiority of it's population?

No... it has nothing to do with that and everything else to do with the almighty dollar.

I think the government sees it in the same light as bath salts and I don't blame them. I think most of the RC's are dangerous and probably are best to not be accessible to any 16 year old with a credit card on the internet.

Same goes for kratom I don't think anyone with a prepaid credit card of any age should be able to order large amounts from the net. They could make regulations around it like alcohol but overall it is just another unknown like bath salts were and it is easier to make it illegal.

Kratom is pretty benign. Everytime I've done it it has felt like a strong shot of caffeine but without the jitters. I did enjoy its ability to enhance mood though. In my opinion anyone who gets addicted to Kratom would have most likely gotten addicted to something worse had Kratom not existed.

When I order a bulk amount of kratom off the net I always end up with a physical addiction and a habit and have to go through withdrawals at the end of the three month period or so.

I do think there are some concerns with it. I don't want it to be illegal but if someone informed like me has problems not doing it every day when I have it I can't imagine what your average retard does when they use it.

I am pretty certain there is quite a bit of scientific data that does not correlate kratom with destructive and dangerous behavior like bath salts do. I have certainly never seen the headline that a dose of kratom made someone try to fuck a tree or kill & eat their partner.

Hell, these same kids can go and buy spore syringes with their prepaid CC's... maybe we should make spore syringes illegal... like 3 other shitty states did YEARS ago with no effect.

Maybe the real solution to this "epidemic" is to not allow minors to purchase prepaid credit cards or hold the parents responsible to their child's actions.

The gov doesn't see it that way. They lump kratom together with designer drugs and I don't blame them think of how many RC's they have had to ban. Kratom is just another one to them and I don't blame them for seeing it that way even though that line of thinking is incorrect.

I do have an issue with your average 16 year old being able to go on their laptops and order any designer drug they want to their home unregulated. Most of those RC's are shit and dangerous anyways. I mean one of our members lost their toes from RC's.

The gov is just trying to protect their people man they don't want any kid to be able to buy these mimic drugs within seconds. Most parents would agree with this notion as well.

I liked how one of the negative side effects listed for kratom is "insomnia". My room mate can attest thats not true, try to get me through two netflix episodes after my night time kratom ration.

One of the worst effects I get from it is insomnia with every day use.

You start to get withdrawals at night and the morning when you are hooked on it and it makes for shitty sleep.

When I have a stash I use around ten grams a day and have inter dose withdrawals and wake up in withdrawal.

Kratom is not just peaches and roses brotha.

I know its not, I'm an everyday user. Everything in moderation. Sugar will make you obese, give you diabetes, and kill you. But it can be used responsibly. Side effect of kratom is drowsiness, side effect of kratom abuse/addiction is insomnia when you're a dumbass. Theres a distinction between the two folks.

The more important part is kratom can save lives of those addicted to much stronger opiates, and drastically improve lives to those who need pain medicine daily just to function in life.

I also like how respiratory depression was stated as a side effect. Heres the real facts:

Quote:

When asked whether kratom was dangerous, leading medical toxicologist Edward Boyer replied:

People are afraid of opioid analgesics because they can lead to respiratory depression [difficulty breathing]. When you overdose on these drugs, your respiratory rate drops to zero. In animal studies where rats were given mitragynine, those rats had no respiratory depression. This opens the possibility of someday developing a pain medication as effective as morphine but without the risk of accidentally overdosing and dying. **** Edward Boyer Professor of emergency medicine and director of medical toxicology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School

Bitter Cactus is soft as fuck when it comes to substance.  He gets "interdose withdrawals" from kratom, permanent psychological damage from one use of psychedelics, he got traumatized by a bit of meth.  Kid is just a weakling.

Anyway, I watched this episode of Dr. Phil.  It was hilarious.

alcohol is the biggest date rape drug in history. I have heard frat boys "Lets get her hella drug and fuck her" or things of this nature all too many times

Alcohol is also the best date rape drug because you can keep drinking and convince her to drink more. And its so innocuous because it is legal

I watched the episode. What a joke! That physician from Stanford should be ashamed of him self--effectively being bought and paid for to say certain things. He was claiming that the mixture of kava, kratom and adderal could likely or inevitably lead to multiple organ dysfunction (MODS).... C'mon! A little common sense is called for here. That's like saying mixing coffee, tea, and acetaminophen of going to cause MODS. I'm not saying kava, kratom and adderal are health food, but from a toxicity standpoint, used within moderation, they don't seem to be that dangerous for an otherwise healthy individual.

Oh... and the best part of it was when the wife (the kratom user) outted the husband for using cocaine and he said 'ya so, I do so recreationally--I'm not an addict'

WOW!

What :kingtard:ery

I hate adderall too and would never take it personally but I would bet money coke is way worse even when used "recreationally" or not by an addict.

I went on a tiz binge and stopped like 2 weeks ago and I had some shitty fucking withdrawals lol. I could barely sleep and was having hot and cold spells mixed with random body parts going numb. Even my lips. I could barely get out of bed too. so if anything they should focus on etizolam rather than kratom because I'd rather have kratom withdrawal over etizolam anyday. Such an uncomfortable feeling.

Dr.Phil only made it in TV because of oprah - he took a huge ride on her coat tails and got his own show because Dr. Phils legal team helped oprah out in the 90s and she gave him a boost by having him on her show and then eventually him getting his own show.

i hate Dr.Phil so much - i havent seen the episode but im sure it puts kratom and kava in a terrile light.

its funny because my cousin who graduated from MIT told me a lot of his friends at MIT were into the legal, herbal highs and kava and kratom seemed to be at the top of the list aside from weed
