bruised cake

Howdy
So I bruised some mycelium- because I squeezed it!
I birthed a cake and I remember when I birthed it: it was all nice and fluffy and squishy and moist and all that. and I was concerned that the mycelium was dry and thus not fun for fruiting.
1. Does bruised mycelium still fruit? Or do I have to wait (for it to heal or whatever)?
2. How slimy/wet/moist (whatever you want to call it) should the outside of a cake in ideal fruiting conditions be?

It shouldn't be slimy but it should be wet after it dries. Did you roll your cakes and dunk it for 24 hours?
Blue mycelium will still fruit but you probably shocked it by squeezing it. Give it some additional time. How hard did you squeeze?

If I squeezed your nose with the pressure I used to squeeze the myc it wouldn't hurt.
And yes I dunked and I rolled. The cake in question actually colonized a lot of that.

First picture is me holding the cake right-side-up. You can see the blue bruising (possibly where water has suffocated the myc underneath it)
Second picture is the cake upside-down where you can see verm underneath the mycelium (dunk and roll and then the myc fucking colonized that!)

It looks really dry, where do you have it and show me your SGFC. First things first is increase misting.

5 in of perlite, 1/4" holes every 2 in.
13 inches from the wall on the left, 20 inches from the wall on the right to the rear.
Ambient indoor humidity in the room is unknown: dry probably.
Its supported on top of stainless steel cans, about 5 inches above the table.
There are two configurations to the room:
One is with the door closed and window closed thereby with minimal drafts Two is with the window slightly ajar as pictured with door closed.
There is a small humidifier in the room and I haven't used it.

I'd just mist it more, don't worry about all that extra stuff. Clean the room up and move it to the middle but don't give it direct sunlight. Make sure your perlite is wet, to check put your finger knuckle deep and see if it's wet. If not run it under the shower. Take the cakes out for this.
I'd just run that through the shower and mist my cakes more often. Leave the door open if you can, it'll just help.

Hey. Just to clarify- I, last night, salt calibrated my analog hygrometer and this morning I left it in [the SGFC] before I left the house.
I just got back and it's been about 12 hours since I misted last. The reading is 85% humidity.
So the humidity in my stuff has been o-kay. .
My understanding of misting and fanning is you dunk to replenish water lost in the colonization process. You roll in vermiculite because it creates a "micro-climate" conducive to fruiting and pinning.
As far as misting goes, I've heard, "Oh well you should wait for the vermiculite to look a certain way", and I don't dig that. Every time I mist should I mist it until it's soaking?

Mist until it glistens ,
If I get pooling water on the top of my cake I pick it up with two fingers and gently tip it over. It probably does no harm to have there but that gives you an idea of what wet means. Mist the cakes directly. Not sure how accurate the hygrometer is but if it's right 85% is great
Did you test the perlite?
It's hard to explain but when verm is dry it will look like sand, when it's wet it'll look like wet sand with sparkling rocks... I know, it's a shitty explanation but I really can't think of any other way to describe it . Mist when it looks like sand, don't mist otherwise.
