Concerning black spots on mushrooms
    #22220531 - 09/11/15 07:27 AM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Hello everyone. Recently I placed a cake inside of my fruiting chamber. I saw the mushrooms start to fruit a bloom, but then had the leave my house for 3 days. The mushrooms were still watered 3 times a day. When I returned I noticed a concerning discoloration to them. They had developed some black spots on them.

Here are some photos:

http://imgur.com/zkF9cB5 <-- Overview of them on a plate, notice the small middle cap.
http://imgur.com/GZUPpmI <--Close up of another cap, notice the bottom.
http://imgur.com/qDE5Gx8 <--The black on the left cap is not the shadow of the one on top of it.

My question is, are these still going to be safe to eat? I currently have them on a paper towel on a plate drying under a fan.
Thanks.

These are most likely spore deposits. The only one I can see a problem with is the small one in picture zkF9cB5, but it looks like its just cracked with spores on it.

Nothing to worry about. But you should definitely dry those or eat em stat or you will start getting baddies on them.

Also Crunch is dead, you should start using Arch.

Well that's good to hear. However I don't have the time to trip this weekend. Would drying and storing them still be OK?
Also arch is for hipsters. Debian all the way.
