Are all humans destined for each other?
    #2220645 - 01/05/04 01:27 PM (20 years, 2 months ago)

As human beings is it natural to find a mate?
Is it unnatural to live a life of solitude?

Of course it is natural to find a mate, it's the great circle of life.

Perhaps though it is merely a romantic notion that people have a soul mate...

I don't suppose there is anything wrong with a life of solitude. Humans are social creatures so hermits are always regarded with suspicion, but if it makes you happy...

Hehe. How can anything be unnatural?

It may be contrary to some arbitrary human notion, but nature is what nature is.

The ideas of celibacy and homosexuality are nice examples of the partial failure of sociobiology though.

I dont think marriage or commitment to a person is natural at all...

that is a human made concept.

However, sex is perfectly natural, as it children.

hope that answers your questions

I guess it all depends on the individual... what feels natural for you?

As for me... I need some kind of spiritual connection with someone to feel comfortable. I have few very special relationships that have helped me grow and I find we've kind of grown together and I can't imagine life without them.

I beleive in Love. In every kind of light it seems to shine through everything. I find most of my faith is attributed to finding my own love. *She is awesome! and really great for me. I find her to balance me out emotionally, and spiritually.

"The less of routine,
the more of life!"

This statement is inaccurate in my opinion. I build upon my routines with exploration of new things. You might call them routines but to me they are systems that make my life manageable and free. Free because I have more time to ponder other ideas, even when I'm working on something routine... like dishes. Ya know... Hate doin um' but i don't think about them anymore because I have made a system or routine in my head that serves a kind of autopilot.

Just some thoughts.

How do you know that marriage and commitment are human-made concepts? What is your basis for this? Or do you think they are human-made?

yeah, so they are completely subjective concepts, like "normal", and thusly have no meaning when reffering to humans as a whole.

not entirely, but words like "natural" have no real basis in reality, especially when one takes evolution into account as a constant process.
