I read that the shamans always use chocolate and copal when they take shrooms. I thought that was very interesting, especially since we have our own cultural tradition of making "mushroom chocolates", which I have never taken.
The closest I came to trying this was eating chips ahoy! on my last trip (it was the only cholcate I had in the house). For my next trip, I will be sure to get some better chocolate. But does anyone know wh the shamans do tyhis? what effect does the chocolate have?

Scientifically, cocoa bean carries theobromine, the happy drug, a moderate upper. Taking Chocolate with it enhances the euphoria by helping the baseline, rise and peak remain positive.
At most grocery stores, you can find 90% cocoa dark chocolate made by Lindor if you're in the states. Dark chocolate + higher cocoa percentage = higher theobromine content = happier trip.

Dark Chocolate 70% will seriously effect your mushroom trip, it will increase the overall positive feelings, experience, etc by a high amount.
at some times, it can be used to combat the 'fear'.

Cacao contains a variety of feel good & mildly stimulating substances. Eating it on it's own always made me feel really good. Not a high mind you, but a wholesome feels good & mood lift. Increased clarity of mind, and an increase in energy, without the jitteriness of caffeine. It's been a while since I've had cacao....I need to reup. I always use raw, organic cacao. I'll add ~2 tablespoons of it, along with ~1 teaspoon of raw, organic maca to my smoothies, and I always felt great after drinking them.
The Aztecs used cacao recreationally & ritualistically. They made cold water infusions of it. During the coranations of Montezuma III (I believe) they mixed cacao with mushrooms after the feast, and got super weird all night. This was documented by the Spanish, who were present for the feast but did not partake. Mixing cacao with mushrooms adds the good feels & mild stimulation of the cacao to the mushroom experience, which is great. Honestly, the only enjoyable mushroom trips I've had involved cacao. Additionally, cacao acts as a vasodilator, which can counteract the vasoconstriction of psilocin/psilocybin...which leads to some of the unpleasant side effects.
Try a hot chocolate version of the tea; raw cacao powder + honey, mixed with the shrooms. I doubt that you'll be disappointed.
