Hell yeah. I think the 921 is a better price and holds as many jars as the 925, but I like the proportions of the 925. I have a 25x which is the same shell as the 925.
This isn't exactly new, but I haven't posted it here. This little tool is called an ear curette, and there is nothing better for pulling from slants.

Never heard of one, had to google it. You could def get away with smaller tubes with that thing, ever tried sharpening it?

I appreciate that nugget of info NE, I have a few good plates of a cloned fatty on agar, I have never done slants but I have some tubes on the way. Seeing that I use an x-acto as a scalpel, picking up one of those will make life a lot easier.

250 pounds of sun dried horse manure, 8 cubic feet of medium coarse vermiculite, a bale of wheat straw, a 55 gallon bag full of free ground score wheat straw and aproxx 75 pounds of composted manure straight from the center of a 10 foot high, old manure pile.

The compost manure smelled like super rich potting soil, was super hot in the middle and had all kinds of mycelium running through it.

Those slants look cool as ice, Grey. Do you have a link for them?
I have been master culture slant, grain water agar curious, as well, but have been too scared to take the plunge.
Regular grocery store LME or enriched LME from FungiPerfecti are the go to agar recipes for master culture slanting.

A local Ma and Pa Garden Nursery Center called "TLC".
Check the garden center/nurseries in your area for the four foot cubic bags, or, if you live in a medical state you can check your "hydrostore".

Yeah, I'll probably do some with the LME I have on hand for most. I know what to expect having used it for lots of my current projects. I usually have so much grain water after a cook though.
Here's the link for the tubes. I believe they're the same ones BL uses.

I've been using MEA for slants. I bought those same tubes from amazon. Killer deal, but I like glass better for a few reasons.
http://www.discountvials.com is the best place to get glass tubes from. I think I'll keep using MEA for slants but I'm gonna start using antibiotic agar. FP uses antibiotic agar in there slants. I wonder if aloha does.
