Spreading p.semilanceata spores
    #22217450 - 09/10/15 03:47 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Has anybody tried spreading Liberty Caps spores with a success?

Last year I have picked a few thousand semilanceatas in rainy weather conditions in Wales. Upon return 1/3 of them were squashed and completely damaged. I have chopped and put them in a 1.5 L bottle, filled it with water and kept in a fridge for one or two days ( this is because I was busy with work).

I took this to my local poorly fruiting liberty spot, then sprayed this and threw remaining pieces of mushrooms around the grass.

When I opened the bottle, it stank really badly of rot. Does this mean, that the spores were damaged at this point due to rot? Or would they still be alive?

Now it is about the time that I shall return to the spot and identify any results.

I am planning to do the same this year, but possibly on a slightly greater scale (pick more overgrown, damaged and rotting shrooms).
I have selected a new spot where I want to spray this. It is a very unusual urban location with sheep grazing on it. I believe that the sheep were introduced in this location for a technical reason. It is a very unusual location for sheep to graze.

I am hoping that this would work and that the sheep will spread the spores all over.

Is this going to work? Do I have only have little time from the moment I pick the mushrooms and put them in water until spraying? Can I freeze them or will freezing damage spores?

I want this new location to burst with libs and become a new weird urban spot.
