Found this very large mushroom growing under loblolly pine, near the trunk. Sorry no bottom side as it looks readily identifiable just due to its abive average size. Plus why knock it over, someone else may get to enjoy it!

This looks like Ganoderma, is that correct?

1) Maybe Phaeolus schweinitzii (if not, Onnia tomentosa) 2) Maybe Ganoderma meredithiae (if not, G. curtisii)

Thanks Alan, i forgot to mention that the Ganoderma was growing from the cut trunk of a palm tree. Can i make tea and drink this ganoderma for its supposed health benefits or would I crap out my liver?

You can, though the health benefits can be elusive and they can also cause mild health problems.

Ganoderma zonatum grows on palm, but is not usually stipitate... flesh should be dark brown with a felt like texture.

That is cool, I would be interested in a sample of this to study close up if you were willing.
