It was. I've essentially adjusted the recipe so that water % is calculated without the grain. But the old recipe was to ~63%, not 65%.

Man I wish I would have checked this thread earlier tonight. I just mixed up and pasteurized 5 quarts of pan sub. 3qt straw to 2qt poo. Loaded up 5 quart jars and put them in the PC for 90mins at 155F
It was my first time pasteurizing anything so I hope i did I right. The tote of the mix is before I hydrated it to field capacity. The poo was already hydrated out of the bag so idk how to measure water content like mentioned previously.

I'm mainly just looking for assurance everything looks good.

I kinda like seeing more people using the sterile poomix method. Angam is rocking it this way. I believe I spelled his name right, the Russian lol.

il take pasteurized over sterilized any day. while they both work fine most of the time in my opinion and experiences the pasteurized is much more resistant to contams and holds up better over the course of several flushes better than sterile subs do. the cpl times i have tried sterile subs they barely made it thru the second flush.

That's the approach that got me my first success. LC poured into PCd straw and manure. It's very simple. I'm excited to see how McMerdins brf/hpoo mix companies.

I can not imagine 2g dose. 1g was great for me. I am interested in doing a little mixology with different shrooms tho. When I think of doing that all I can picture is me as a kid with all the different kool aid packs in the pitcher at the same time. I have not tripped in 3 months. I was hoping my next would be fresh picked. Fuck I don't think I can hold back that long.

Pan cyan and mexicana is great. Current micro doses are pan cyan, mexicana and a little lpeu but next time I’m doing it without the cubes again because it’s a little too lethargic for me.

for pan is it 1g fresh or 1g dried that equals basically 3.5g of cubes?

The probes are inside the jars taking readings from the core of the poo

Ok, cool. Yeah, I was making it with those exact measurements (including 1900g water) before when it was too muddy. Just got a couple gallons of sponsor hpoo in the mail today, so once I've got a culture I like I'll make up a couple bags with the new measurements and see how that goes.
Also on that note: do you know if grain type matters to the calculations? I've mostly used wheat, but I also have rye and corn handy. I know that most any grain will work, but just figuring that different grains expand different amounts, and I'm not sure whether the proportions should change with other grains.

Speaking of tripping...my lady has never done shrooms. In a week we're both going to do 0.5g cyans and 2g RW. I think that will be a good ride without going into deep shit territory.
@Durgin, The grain shouldn't matter too much. This is why the new recipe is written so that water content is based off the base substrate and grain is treated as an addition. I've used WBS, rye, millet and milo so far.

it's just called an oven safe meat thermometer. it has a long heat proof wire that can withstand high temps. they are nice because you don't have to stick a probe in the jar every 5 minutes to check the temps. the jar doesn't need to be sterile because it's just being pasteurized.

OOoooooo I missed the fact it's being pasteurized! Makes much more sense.

understandable considering he's using a PC to pasteurize
