really hoping to get some prints off of these.
dunno bout canopies or indoor potency on these guys
I've got a print for those but I've read that potency is unpredictable so I was gonna try and grow my other pans first. I put some more Barkland spores on agar again, gonna give it another shot.
I tried P.cyan Jamaica and Sandoze a while back but they wouldn't recover from the shake. It was just a half assed attempt with a jar of each though, gonna give it some genuine effort this time round.
Those look beautiful by the way. Nice work.

TBH, I don't care if they aren't "potent" by dry weight compared to X,Y,Z.
i think different species give different trips. thats more what Im after rather than growing "the most potent" species.
stones, cubes, pans, ovoids, etc….they all got a story, some just don't open up to you quite as fast
on a related note, when I grew gyms indoors, they blue much darker and faster than wild ones. I have never eaten either so I can't compare potency, but I thought that was interesting, not sure why.

the flies in the cambo tub aren't regular gnats,so I'm tossing it outside. they are multiplying much faster than the ones Im used to seeing. about twice as big, and a harder exoskeleton from what I can tell. Ill get a good picture of them tomorrow, maybe someone will know…do we have bug experts on here??

Are the larvae black? Whenever I had "gnats" they always had black scaly larvae. Not your regular fungus gnat but they wreak havoc just the same.

I've never noticed larva from the gnats I'm used to, but I never really looked hard. These had what looked like larva but it was on the wall's and lid, not on the casing, and they were stationary, not like crawling maggots or anything. It was spooky. I picked those off before I even saw anything moving but I guess i missed some.

IME gnats dont start in the tub, they come when you got old food or beer cans etc lying around and then quickly find their way to your tubs.
Only way I've gotten rid of them is not having any colonizing or fruiting tubs and keep the house clean for 2-3 days, they die really fast and wont reproduce or survive without a food source

With regular gnats, you should be able to see them if you scratch off an inch of the sub or something like that. From what I've read, they don't like to crawl around at the surface.

IME it was always from shit I've had lying outside. I used to have these large ass pots filled halfway with compost to throw my spent subs in and I've had the largest "gnat" infestation to date around that time. Nowadays whenever I have spent subs I throw them in a garbage bag and put that outside until I dispose of it but if I forget about it for a week or so, they start making their way back in.
Now if only I can figure out how to get rid of mites, I would be golden.

yea, 2/17. u can see it really dried up in that time, even consolidating a bit and pulling the mass of grains in. thats why some kernels look uncolonized…cause they fell btw the glass and the mass of grains when I moved it

i have another one from 2/17 ill probably do the same thing with, but I'm going to use a different substrate just for shits and giggles.
edit: to clarify-im not recommending this as procedure. it was more of an"I'm bored" and "why do I keep this jar around?" kind of day. plus, I like to experiment. I get bored too easily

I'm wondering since the spawn was so dry- did you soak the spawn of awhile before mixing it with the sub?

no. it was sterilized substrate so i would have had to sterilize water and do the soak in front of the hood.
i don't do the soak before spawning thing anyway, just not my thing.

Hmm, thats interesting- I guess with sub at field capacity that provided enough moisture. It sure worked well.

Dunking grains is a relatively "new" practice. Not at all neccessary and I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't. I think it helps though, dry grains can only take moisture from your otherwise field capacity sub.

BL-I recently received a Pan Goliath print from a really cool dude on here.
I see you sterilized the substrate, Is there a TEK you followed or are you paving the way here?
