I really like field horse manure, but when it comes to breaking that shit up, it makes me not want to ever use it again. I've used it only a couple times over the last 10 years probably. I buy the dehydrated horse manure from one of the sponsors and love it. Just hydrate it for an hour or two and then mix it in with my coir/verm. I use it for most of my cube grows even though the trend over the years here has been to use straight coir or coir/verm. I highly recommend it. I've used it for over a decade. 1-2 cups dry per brick of coir/verm.
Do any of you have any machines, devices, or techniques to chop up dried field manure? Blender didn't work very good for me at all. Or do you just spend hours breaking it up by hand?
The dehydrated poo from a sponsor is just too good, quick, and easy to use.

Yeah I think we can mention sponsors if it poo-related. The SS stuff is on point and ready to roll. Only thing are those shipping costs.

I’ve learned a couple things about manure Over the last year or so so it seems grain fed cow or horse manure. even if it is the proper consistency even if it looks perfect will severely reduce your results as opposed to grass fed. It took me months to figure out I couldn’t understand why my poo looked so perfect and was so useless I’ve now got a perma link to sun dried grass fed horse and cow, I should be getting a truckload delivered any day the last couple trays Iran were straight grass fed horse and they did mediocre definitely better than the grain fed but so far the grass fed Cal has definitely been the best most consistent medium. I’ll Run some trays with my new Pooh over the next week and keep y’all updated

Congrats you two! That was definitely well deserved.
And thanks for the guidance on manure. The thing about grain fed is particularly helpful - I hadn't thought about that, so thought that the hpoo I had bought from some random Amazon seller was ok since it was dried and clean. But maybe that could explain the struggles too...
Anyway, I think I'm good now to start figuring this all out. Got a new print on the way (thanks again jcm!) along with all the materials to try a jcm-style tub. Will get some sponsor hpoo as well and try that too. I'll post progress pics along the way as well in here and hopefully by spring I'll be flush with more pans than I know what to do with! (Pun intended, sorry.)

Sorry it’s taken me a while to get anywhere with them, I got lots of invitro clones but kept having issues getting them on grain. Last bag I tried had a pinhole. I finally got a couple Super EzLC coming up with Koh chang clones looking healthy. Plan to inoculate them this afternoon.
Don't say sorry. So happy you are working with them
Keep it coming and keep me updated please!

Hell yeah!
Even if you’re in a big city just find a nursery. Pans are by far the cheapest to produce material wise.
I’m in a huge city and there’s a nursery close by which has all kinds of manure and wood chips.
2.79 for 50lbs of sub is unbeatable. Mine is composted steer manure, no idea what they eat but I always assumed the compost materials helped since I’ve never used straw yet.

Do you think the Black Kow manure would work? I want to start trying out some Pans but I won't have access to pasture manure until the spring.
Also, congrats on the TC badge Aka!

Thanks man! I was shocked lol.
I’ve always just mixed a bunch of verm into the composted manure and pasteurize it and that’s it. Add grain spawn and let it go wild.

For what it's worth, my attempts with black kow didn't go well because it's so composted it's basically dirt, and as such it turns to mud when hydrated. Mixed with straw, it produced great for PE, but nothing for pans. Maybe you can make it work, but if you have any other options I'd try that first.

Sounds good enough to me, thanks for the advice. Once Spring springs I have access to literally tons of shit from various animals (horse, cow, rabbit, goat, buffalo) and will just wait until then

So I guess my one random pan-cake heard me feeling sorry for myself yesterday, because look what I woke up to this morning:

I'm going to try and not even look at the things funny for the next few days, just in case...

Nice! What's growing there?
I just streaked 4 plates with pan cyan BVI for the LAGM21.

One thing that the pan-cake tek doesn't mention is that you should always label your containers and NOT the foil that you absent mindedly throw away when you put it into fruiting.
There are a couple options, so I'm going to have to wait til they grow out a bit more than get confirmation from the experts.

is the dehyd manure you get from the sponsors loose? The pellets I have are crazy hard and need to be soaked forever, or smashed up.
The aged manure I've got atm breaks up wonderfully if I just rub it between my palms.

Don't even joke about that! I've got way too many oysters growing around here for that joke to be even remotely funny...
