spores that old can still germinate but there's no guarantee. are you sure you have a wild specimen of panaeolus cyanescens though? i have never heard of that species being found in central europe.

They were found by our very own Sporulator: http://mushroomobserver.org/observer/show_observation/74053

i ended up casing the cincts yesterday instead of a few days ago. i was surprised to see 3 little pins forming on top. I picked them off, then cased it. its in fruiting now.

heres a new plate from dour3en 's print. first transfer from germination, pretty faint, so I had to tilt it to get a good view

interesting specimens there. the stems are much thicker than what you would normally see. i would imagine there could be some demand for spores from a strain like that.

That's fuckin sweet dude! Did you use a thinner substrate than you would for cubes?

yea, right after.
Pans might be THE species where case/fruit @ spawning could be most effective though. I basically stopped growing cubes last fall when azure put that out, so I only got to try it couple times. I dunno why I didn't do that this time, but Im going to try it next grow.
no update on the cincts. nothing really breaking thru the casing yet. ill post a pic when something does. its got me a little worried. usually they are fast.

well so much for a thicker casing….I think they are having trouble pinning i harvested a handful and noticed a bunch of gnats. gonna hold out until something bad happens. hard to keep it moist enough the casing don't dry out, but dry enough that the caps don't stay wet. two top holes open and a fan running….literally directly point at the tote

cinctilus is fruiting though

Aww that's too bad, I hate gnats. Nice work with the cinctulus though looks like a pretty decent pinset!
My pan cambo grain jars have been sitting 6 days now after LI with no growth that I can see. Not sure what the deal is with that....
Going to try some pan cyan with wedges I guess while I wait to see what happens...

i stopped LI because of the unpredictable leap off times. other people post about regular or even faster leap off than wedge drops, so i dunno either. maybe I blended too long

Yeah idk, I have not had very good experiences with it. I have blended longer times, and minimally. Neither seems to predict it too well. I think now that I feel my sterile technique is pretty solid I might start messing with LI instead. I like the idea of LI, but it just doesn't seem to be working all that well. Perhaps pans are just too fragile, but even with cubes it's been hit or miss.
