Good news! It seems like the panty hose is keeping the gnats at bay. Also good news... the Pan Cyan Natal are fruiting in time for Christmas... Not so good news - the best fruits are side pins so far. I suspect more to come from the surface:

Happy Holidays Folks!

How close would you say this bisporus is to casing? Finally got a pan sub that didn't look like seagull turds before failing. Fingers crossed!

Hey Celestialex It is a sterelite stationary box. It is a very good configuration for pans in my view. Good size and the lid clips on pretty secure for a minimum moisture loss but a bit of FAE when it is colonizing, then I take the lid off and put it in the fruiting chamber to finish up.

That is a MS Pan Cyan Natal. Just straight off the germination plate - just looking to see what it has to offer and maybe find a clone or two...

Day 4-5 of these bowls being in the FC. No pins yet, or knots, but I gather pan knots are pretty hard to see. It's pan cyan texas on straw and manure, cased with peatmoss, verm, and gypsum. These were part of my first 'tekless'/frankentek attempt at pans, so I'm not holding my breath.

The pump runs 24/7 and there is a fan that comes on every couple of hours. The casing and the surface are staying very wet. That's ok isn't it?
The pan-cakes look like they are coming along nicely too:

Staying wet is fine as long as there’s also plenty of evaporation happening.
Those look pretty good so far. They might’ve been cased a day or two early based on how grown in they are but it shouldn’t really matter.
I’m gonna try some of these myself here when I get an lc going.

Yeah the bowls in the FC at the moment were laid out from some jam jars that I had just straw and manure in. I jammed them too tight so a lot of them didn't colonise completely. iirc casing sub that isn't fully colonised can lead to overlay?
I just laid them out while the pan-cakes finish up. I have a pyrex dish in recovery atm as well. It'll have had 5 days on the 30th so I'll post what it looks like then and see if people think it's ready to case.

To help with this I was thinking about having the pump turn off when the fan comes on? That should help should it?
I've got an inkbird humidty control coming in the post. I figured I can rig the pump and fan up to that and have the inkbird switch the pump off and the fan on depending on the RH in the tub. That way something is always keeping the air moving, but altering the RH.

When you inoculate bags with LC, do you do it infront of a flowhood? because inside the SAB the air would twist around and you also cant fit the impulse sealer. May look like silly questions but eh.

i wouldnt even waste a good controller like that on that kind of fc tho. and no dont turn ur pumps off. stagnant water breeds nasty shit. like i say in my write up the pumps run 24/7 and if u wanna control ur rh better adjust the temp on the heater. in a fc like that a contorller system and all that is totally not needed. i dont even use a hygrometer anymore. plenty of others have also followed my write up and had great results. its so low maint is insane. all u gtta do is add water once in a while. but if u have the space and wanna play with good controllers and shit id suggest building a greenhouse/martha type setup like jakes or asuras or blue helix. thats where that kind of equipment is useful. i just hate to see ya waste $$ on somethin thats not needed is all.

cool thanks! I'll keep the pump running, I've raised the lid a little to allow better fae. I'm slowly building towards a j/martha so the ink bird will come in handy in the future. but I'll leave it off the tub fc for now.
Going to throw together some more pan-cakes this evening so I can use up the last of my LC.

why would i wanna build a GH when your setup is far simpler and gives off canopies?

while my fcs work very well and are super easy and about as low maint as u can get. the only downfall is that the amount of trays u can fit in there. i only can fit 1 of my full size trays in there at a time. so my fruiting capacity is low compared to what i could achieve in a greenhouse/martha type set up. i just dont have the space for that at the moment. so i was just suggesting that if someone was gnna spend that kind of $ and use all the high tech controls and switches and shit that they would be much better utilized in that manner instead of on my setup is all.
