Might be hard to see from the angle but it did not jump off the transfer puck at all. That is all aerial mycelium.

I know how it's supposed to work guys lol
The jump usually only takes 2 days at most. It has been 8 days already and not a single transfer has jumped to the new agar dish. Unless I'm crazy something isn't right

I agree with that for sure. I'm trying to find out what went wrong so I can avoid it in the future. Just a botched batch of agar? I already poured 40 fresh plates basic MEA recipe with no food coloring so hopefully I can still salvage the culture.

Try without the charcoal then. Charcoal absorbs many things including nutrients, so your agar may end up effectively non-nutritious.

@Asura, in your 2 threads regarding pan cultivation, in 1 you claim that misting wont kill pins and in the other (so you want to grow pan cyans) you claim the usual "pins will abort with misting". What is true regarding this conflict of information?

Just use some simple LME agar...then if that doesn't work move on to whatever freaky shit you're into. Some of these agar recipes start looking like some straight up hipster bullshit imo.
@Phony - mist away...I don't do it, but other people have shown it's not an issue.

I tried barley malt extract with three different mixes and never liked any growth that I saw so I switched to LME and I'm not changing ever lol

i've used pda, mea and lmea with pans. never had an issue with any of them. only issue i've encountered was some pan prints i had didn't germinate.

I would not directly missed with a spray bottle it all depends on the conditions in your grow chamber if after you missed them they are then going to immediately dry out that will probably fry them however if do you have a fogger keeping it humid consecutively or constantly water will not cause them to abort. It’s getting wet then drying that kills them but I still never must pan fruits directly they just stay wet from the fogger

Hey jcm! How do you recognize Pans knots? I can't spot them until they are already pins lol. And can you mist knots? I have a tub 3 days in and had to mist it because the casing was getting dry

noooooo dont mist knots or get them direct contact at all. pans dont mind bein wet as long as its from the moisture in the air around them but in my book direct contact is a no no the looks will suffer more than anything. but here is some pan knots for ya
sometimes they r under the casing and hard to see tho but once u know what to look for u can spot em

if need to i water by syringe around them and pins. but u gtta b careful once knots start formin cuz if u get ur casing too wet they will just sit in it and they tend to abort and uf they dont they look like total shit. or atleast in my experiences

Good Lord thanks for sharing these pics! Btw, they look super clear! I almost shitted my pants when I saw the "nooooo" lol I ran to see if there were any pins and luckily there weren't. When I misted today I misted on plain mycelium. right now when I checked it's still plain mycelium, but after the mist it shrunk a little bit, as if the droplets pounded it. No knots luckily. Maybe there was something as you suggested under the casing but as it's the third day post-casing I don't think the chances are very high. But definitely won't make the same mistake then haha. Thanks mate!
