First "real" Pan Cyan grow here. I hate to post such disappointing photos, but I'm curious what some of you more experienced people think about these. They are day 3 fruiting and they are SMALL. Smaller than any of the pics I've seen anyone growing here. Most have stipes only 2mm in diameter. I'm guessing that I just got some bad genetics, but it's strange that two different LC's made with different sectors seem to be growing the exact same way.
Pan Cyan Estero Bulk Substrate: (by rough weight, pasteurized) 40% coco coir, 30% vermiculite, 20% dehydrated horse manure, 10% gypsum
Spawn: two LC jars made from separate agar sectors two grain jars, one of each of the LC jars (LC-A and LC-B)
Casing: pasteurized 1/4" jiffy mix (buffered peat moss and vermiculite)
fruited in jcm4620 style tub around 12/06/20? maybe a day or two later? can't remember first pins noticed 12/15/20, so day 3 fruiting here
LC-A jar: (not shown, spawned a few days after the others, not fruiting yet) about 1/2 quart spawn (1:2 ratio?)
LC-A tray 1: (not shown, molded over pins and thrown away, should have waited another day or two to spawn) about 1/4 quart spawn (1:3-4 ratio?)
LC-A tray 2: about 1/4 quart spawn (1:3-4 ratio?)

LC-B tray: (longer, bigger tray) 1 quart spawn (1:2.5 ratio?)

Does anyone know what the gray, bumpy like stuff on some of the caps is? Some of the caps on LC-B tray 2 at the top of the image show this. I've tried wiping some of it with my finger, but nothing seemed to come off. Also some of the caps on LC-A tray 2 show "spikey" gray edges to them. I've never seen anything like this on any of my cube grows. I'm guessing it might be some type of bacterial infection? I'd like to try these fresh if it's safe and I get enough for a dose. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Ok thanks, brother. Yeah I'm going to build your FC for now but later when I have the time I'm going to convert my 4x4 grow tent into a pan jungle.

hell ya man thats awsum i cant wait to see it๐๐
messiah id say it seems to be more a genetic issue than anything else. but id try a sub of 60% chopped wheat straw and 40%aged dehydrated and shredded horse manure. i think that would be much better and produce bigger fruits. either pasteurized or sterilize in bags it dont matter. also at what ratio was ur grain to sub?? also id ditch that jiffy mix and get peat and verm and mix your own shit. that shit has molded fast as hell everytime i ever tried it even on cubes. a straight peat and verm casing ph balanced to 7.5 is ideal in my opinion based on the results ive had in the past
also how many pumps do u have in the fc??? did u use the 2 like i say in the write up???

I already made up some of the same bulk recipe but with added straw and sterilized them the other night, but I was going to use the same LC in them, but maybe it wouldn't be a good idea with the genetics I'm seeing in this grow. The grain to bulk ratio's were listed in the post above.
I've never had a problem with jiffy mix molding personally, but I definitely don't case all my cubes regularly. I don't have a means of checking pH so I would need to find out the correct ratio of lime. I don't know if I've ever made up my own casing. I've always just used jiffy mix that has no added nutrients.
I believe the one tray molded because I spawned it a bit early and it wasn't completely colonized. Next time I will wait an extra day or two to make sure before spawning.
You don't think the gray, bumpy, spikey-edged caps are genetic do you? It seems like a bacteria infection.
BTW, I have been planning on taking 4-5g pan cyan my first go around. This last year I have been doing 14g cube doses. It's another big reason why I want to switch to growing mostly pans. :X

idk id prolly lean twd genetic but they look ok for the most part. as for checkin ph i just use a cheap ph meter from home depot and i use food grade calcium carbonate from walmart for ph balance.

what's everyone's favorite trays to use? sterlite used to make some good ones that weren't too tall but they're discontinued now.

I did work for a family that raised rabbits. They had a pile of rabbit turds taller than me. I wonder how how rabbit turds would fare.

Those donโt look super healthy but they seem to be normal sized. Pans are real small in person. When you dry a bunch it kinda looks like a bag of string all tangled up.
Mychunt what kind did you do again? The Cambos dry ridiculously light. I had the same thing happen my first grow I had 120 wet and like 5.7 dry. But the cyans dry to a normal weight.

Pan cyan bvi. Kinda cleared it up, I got mine from the same vendor that grim's prints came from, but his are f2, mine are f1. I got mine in July, so idk if it's different fruits or not. I didn't have any wonky fruits, I was just surprised by how much water they hold.
Anyway, I have prints if anyone wants some

jcm4620 said: i cant remember the exact length and width of these trays that i use but they are exactly 2.0 inches deep and they always contain 1lb of colonized rye berries and 5lbs of my sub which is a 60%chopped wheat straw and a 40% aged dried and shredded horse manure. then they r cased with about 1lb of my casing mix. i prefer about an 1/8th inch deep.

but i started out using a 1.2 ratio and while i did have ok results it got better when i went to a 1.4 or a 1.5 ratio. which is where im at now. i didnt notice any difference at all from 1.4 to 1.5 but im not gnna change it again cuz where im at now is perfect for me and my trays.
are these your jambos?
