If the Pan Cyan Natal fruit nicely I’ll print a bunch to share with this crew! I am thinking I’ll set up another fruiting area and not let these gnats have a crack at these!

I found this stray called "no more bugs inside" It works crazy well Its not that good with the larvae, but it kills all of them in the room Just stray once every 2-3 day and your problem is gone

They add up quick especially if they happen to drop a lot of spores.
I managed to get just over 100 from this last shoebox because they printed 2 or 3 times each.

A lot of times caps barely want to print once though, these Aussies were surprising.

Can you still dry and eat caps after printing them for 12-24 hours?
Still just as potent?

I haven’t noticed anything but then I always throw the caps in the dehydrator and mix them in with the rest of the harvest.
Enough people air dry shrooms that I can’t see it being a problem though.

So last year I had my space heater setting dial marked in spots that kept the room at 70 and 80 degrees. It’s been 30-60 here the past couple weeks so I set the dial right around 77 and it’s been there the whole time. The room felt warm so I never bothered checking but today I needed the temp gun so I took some readings and it’s much colder than I thought, prob from the room being set up differently than it was last year.
Anyway the Aussies that I’ve been running were fruited in 60-66 the entire time. So I guess even tropicalis don’t mind cooler temperatures.

Hi fam. Got a question. Was pasteurizing some hpoo, verm and straw substrate. Same ratios etc as what I use for Pans.
Fo what I always do when pasteurizing. But noticed today that I see what I think is yeast growing. Small white dots in many places of the top of the substrate.
Use the same bags if substrate for 3 shoeboxes. 1 box of Pan cam one box of ps Cea and one box of Semperviva.tl
The pan cam box had no problem colonizing the substrate and the cea and Semperviva us slower colonizers to my knowledge. First time I spawn them.
But I was wondering if anyone else has experince with have yeast in the substrate after pasteurizing and still had success.
I seen this before a few time with my Pans and they didnt have any problems to atleast fruit once.
I read here tell. If I understood correctly that yeast culture in substrates often isn't a problem? https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23130868/fpart/all/vc/1

Anyone got experince with this?
Don't have a picture right now. small with dots.

I've had small while dots, but I think it's usually Actinomyces after the sub has been sitting for some time (due to the earthy smell). It's not ideal but should be fine.

What is the max temp you get while pasteurizing? I see better results when I tip toe over 160. I've come close to 170 with great results but I wouldn't push it.
I'd like to see yeast pop up after an hour at 160-165. You should be fine with a fluffy substrate at those temps.

Yeah mine stays in the mid 160s and has been amazing everytime. Sterilized sub was going moldy by the second flush every time and once I switched I’ve been getting 5 no problem. Since switching to pasteurization I really haven’t had a sub go bad until it was totally spent.
Yet another reason I love instant pots.

Aka I use an instant pot for pasteurizing too and it’s so easy just gotta make sure the sub level in my jars are below the water line. What else do you use your instant pot for? I’ve never tried to sterilize grain or anything.

I’ve had that happen in a grain jar inoculated with LC once but it was only the one jar. Best I could come up with is maybe some particle when I did the dishes stayed in the jar or the lid and survived the PC. Did you use gloves when handling the sub.

Good to hear. Used my substrate the day after. So shoudnt be that I left it to long after pasteurizing.
Will seehow it goes and maybe upload a picture and keep you guys updated in the progress.
I did use new source for my hpoo. Might be that.
