I was thinking the same. Usually Aussies are tall, skinny with small caps

So, I had some left over spawn and I'm re-running the culture that gave me albino-looking fruits. I realized that, during the last grow, my LED lights started crapping out around the time things were pinning and developing. My thought was that maybe this, or some other set of conditions, could have caused the strange result. So the light issue is fixed and this first flush is on coming in. Little early, but things are looking pretty similar to the last grow? I also have some clones in the works. We'll see . . .

They can be. But here, a print from the tray on the left produced the tray on the right.

I actually really like that right tray, the caps are so clean.
So far mine are maturing at like half the speed of usual, idk if it’s the temperature or what. I’d be surprised if I see many over two inches. The caps look like they’re gonna be enormous though based on the couple early ones.

The tray on the right is my all time favorite grow. Unfortunately they did not drop spores and the clone performed miserably. I've been trying to get the Aussie's back for over a year now.

Are these getting close to being ready to case? It's day 8 or 9 since I spawned them.

Also these two tubs are on day but look like they are getting close to being ready to case?

The dark bottom right hand corners are shadow, and something strange has happened to the sensor on my camera.

Definitely some shorties with monster caps. Lol the one might be the biggest cap I’ve had on a pan yet.

That’s why I like to do multispore cultures. I definitely see some great clone material in there AK.
Coversall look at the sides and bottom of the tubs and once there is myc all over the entire tub give it another day or three and then case. You definitely don’t want to case uncolonized straw/manure that’s a good way to get contams right off the bat. And if you don’t let it consolidate before casing it will just never stop eating the casing.

Thank you Celestialexplorer1, this pan cyan texas is pretty whispy so it's a little hard to see how the myc is doing through the tub. The takeaways look pretty much done to me but the mini monos need more time. If they progress at the same rate they should be ready by the end of the week I reckon.

Another Update regarding my Pan Trops:
I had a 2nd Wave/flush in my mono and i had a first flush/wave in my sgfc.
Mono: Way less than my 1st harvest...the pins were sparingly distributed this time. --> about 70g fresh
SGFC: Worked like a charm. Very dense Pinset. There was just one small spot in the middle where no growth happened. ---> 100g fresh (you have to take into account that one pyrex tray is about 50% smaller than a mono though).
In total i got about 11-12g dry out of it. So if i had to choose between a mono and a sgfc i would go with the latter.
And before the harvest, on saturday, i tested out my first haul. Took 1.1g. Soaked them in lemon juice(~10 min) and added boiling water(10 min). And some honey afterwards for the taste.
Oh Boy...it must have been the strongest psychedelic experience i ever had. It reminded me of ayahuasca ( minus puking) and the visuals were out of this world. I even had opened eye visuals and met some beings. Comparing them to cubes would be like comparing 2d and 3d... Also remarkable was the length of the peak-plateau. Normally i was accustomed to hit the plateau after 1-2h, but this time the peak happened about 1h in...and it stayed that way for 5 fucking hours! 5 hours of weeping & laughing...total insanity! Funnily the sgfc and mono pans also peaked during my trip, so i had to harvest them the next day...and since it was so intense (im still recovering...) i sadly forgot to make pics...today, 2 days later, i nearly slept for 15 hours and still am knackered...
BTW: No tummy problems at all! It stayed pleasant from start to finish.

Thanks guys.
They’re just so small it feels like a waste but then again after all the problems i remember hearing about them I wasn’t expecting half this much.
Plus the caps are pretty.
When I was digging up old pictures of tropicalis I came across a few people saying they were the least favorite type of pan to eat. Have you guys been able to tell that much of a difference between species?

mary fairchild said: I'm far from expert on Pan morphology/taxonomy. Teonans threads are what you should be reading. I'm currently working with 3 Pan cyan varieties and I just started two Pan cambos. Cambos, cyans and trops are technically different species based on mushroom structural differences. These differences apparently are great enough to merit calling them different species.
My take on it is - the species differences are not that important in terms of what the mushroom looks like, how easy it is to grow, and how potent it is. Rather the potential variability (caused by the luck of the spores, growth conditions, etc.) you can get WITHIN a species or variety can be greater than the variability BETWEEN species.
So you can grow a very potent cambo and a relatively less potent- cyans or vice versa.
In other words maybe a pan is a pan just like a cube is a cube.
Haven’t tried pans yet but this quote was one of the original reasons I got interested in them

Yeah easily the biggest ones I’ve had yet. They’re turning out way better than I expected.

I’m just waiting on spores to start dropping now.
