Happy Thanksgiving to the US crew! I don’t go in for the colonial story - I just like a time to reflect and feel and express gratitude. So thank you all in here for sharing your knowledge and challenges. Thank you also for your generosity in give sways and trades.
Lastly thank you for your patience - I’ve been super slammed at work and it’s been a bit stressful as well. This has had me put off the Adas supplied give a any of the Pan Cyan Florida Bunnell prints. I haven’t forgotten you I’ve just got you on hold. I promise you’ll get them by Christmas... Except the South Africans - it’s anyone’s guess how long those may take!

I'm also using horse pellets.
Really confusing when you read substrate recipes. Some describe it percentually, some do by weight. And then there's field aged manure and pellets and so on...
Now i just eyeball it. And im using way more than 10%. Besides...what does that even mean? Since straw for instance has a different density than manure.
I can say that the pellets work for me. They are a bitch to process though. I break them apart (yes, its annoying as cutting straw), put them in a plastic box with boiling water. Then i wait ~2 hours before repeating it. 2nd time im also adding a bit of bleach and a bit hydrated lime (i got that from waylitjims pan tek recipe).
Then (usually the next day) im straining it and loosening it a bit up manually (even with 2xboiling they remain quite hard).
It would be nice to have some kind of manure powder, but i never stumbled across such a thing in any store.
So it's a lot of work, yes. But so is driving around and looking for fresh manure(if you dont live anywhere rural)...
PS: I dont really know if the bleach and the lime is needed. Its just a matter of habit now...

Super interesting, your trop grow looked great, so hearing that you used pellets gives me some hope for the franken-tek grows I have on the go atm.

Shoebox is starting up. There’s a few tiny caps poking through along with a sprout somehow. Gotta be from the casing.

It’s weird having the side of the tray look like cubes instead of the normal solid white wall from pans.

I'll keep an eye on the South Africans. Ate .9 of wild coast last week and they were the best pans I've tried so far. Just finished a cambo grow and next (don't know when) will be RDU and eucalyptus that you send.

Thanks man.
I also think that all the talk about ratios and different forms of additives sometimes sound a bit like modern sorcery... Everyone develops habits, and you cant always tell what is really needed or if it changes something drastically. And then there's the genetic part/lottery... As long as you have achievements you believe in the way you did it, even though leaving out a thing or using a different recipe/ratio would have probably worked the same.
It would be interesting to know though what teks would look like if we havent had the war on drugs...all the research that could have been made and all wisdom we would've known by now...
Has anyone of you guys watched fantastic fungi? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8258074/ Can highly recommend it, especially while tripping.

Yeah there are some great time lapse shots in it! It's nice intro to all things fungal and turned me onto the work of Simmard which was a big bonus as at the time I was studying a module on forest ecosystems.

Just finished dehydrating and my initial 150 shriveled down to 9,5g. A bit surprised 'bout that.
What kind??
Somebody said Cambos dry to 5-6% and Cyan stays around 10%. It was accurate in my case, I grew cambo first and was kinda bummed my 130g wet dried to like 7-8g. But then when I did cyans I had 140g wet and was expecting 8 at most and ended up with 13.

Had a rain euc bulk bag I let sit a little too long before breaking down and on top was about 2.5-3 inches of fluff so I pulled it off .
Smells strongly of mushrooms and touched my tongue to it and tastes like pan cyan.

Interesting. Pan Trops i got. So the shrinkage scale seems to be cyan -> trops -> cambos

Hey guys total noob here so I apologize if this is posted in the wrong area. I just ordered my first syringes (4 cubes, 1 pan cyan). My plan is to work with the cubes to the point where I get consistent flushes and proficient in collecting spore prints and agar work (cloning via fruit body cuttings, transferring from prints and agar -> grain) before breaking into my Pan spores.
What should my 'benchmarks' be that will indicate I'm ready to take on the harder challenge of Pans.? Cheers, mates!

Basically once you get an eye for surface conditions pans will be way easier.
Has anybody had trays that just grow tiny fruits?? I’ve got pins all over this shoebox now but a lot of them have weird caps that look like they’re maturing too soon. And the one lone fruit I pulled from the first small tray was maybe two inches tall at most.
Probably should’ve waited a day til they’re more visible but whatever.

I had more failed grows with cubes than with pans. The experience you gather from growing cubes does not always apply to pans. They are not hard. Just different. Sometimes I wonder who the fuck came up with the idea of "exotics" This expression feels like racism in the mushroom world. There are over 200 species of active mushrooms and just one is referred to as "normal" the rest are exotic... wtf?

Agar work can really help pans from what I can tell, it's helped me move beyond rye jars that stall out and its let make LC.
