This 1st flush on the Nec D was insane. 184g wet and got 5 fruits over 5g. Including an 8g and a 9g. If the 2nd flush goes well, I'll be on target for a 300g tray, which is my minimal target. Some of these caps looked like biscuits.

Figured I'd share these before I toss em. They're taking too long so I'm going back to agar. But at least it's cool looking?

How long have they been going? My first pan rye jars did the same thing. My current batch are looking more promissing, but the wedges I thought would be fastest are turning out to be slower than the others.
Untill you've got your eye in is pan cyan cult a bit of a numbers game? To find suitable to cultures you've got to plow through a bit of agar? That's if you're starting from a print?

Larger jar? I think a week and a half and the smaller one has only been a few days. I don't know anything about pans other than the slow mycelium blows because it overlays or at least that's what I think I remember reading,

I need some pan wizards' help.
Been using that stuff as a casing material for PE. My cultures overrun that stuff in a nice way and I get nice surface conditions. Problem is, pans aren't cubes and I'm fearing they will also find the casing as yummy as my cubes and overlay it. I'm at a loss because I can't find plain peat to save my life, not even online.
Would you use that stuff in lieu of peat?

I’m not a pan wizard but, it’s cactus mix and probably is pretty much is 96% peat anyways. The amounts of sand and clay are generally negligible. How overrun the casing gets is often dependent on when it’s applied (at least in my limited experience) this is true in my experience with cubes as well. I could show you pics of an uncolonized coir casing that has pins shooting up through it.

Ya it looks like 100% peat tbh, no sand to be seen. You eased my mind a tad, gonna use it then.
My cubes don't seem to mind when I apply the casing tho, they always colonize it fully no matter if I leave the sub to consolidate for a week (which I found useless so I stopped doing it) or if I apply it right at 100% colonization.
How much lime are you guys adding to the peat? I'm doing 3%, is that alright?

I mean, I add ~600 ml of calcium carbonate to 10 liters of peat.

With cubes I like to let em consolidate real good and then apply casing and blast the FAE. It’s definitely different than casing or a top layer and fruiting at spawning.

Sorry if I’m off topic but I used that strategy for my last pan attempt and it seemed to do pretty good compared to the insane overlay I’ve dealt with in the past.

Not off topic at all. Any ideas that can help to avoid overlay is def welcome. Will be consolidating the trays with the lid on and give them plenty of FAE when I apply the casing.

After applying the casing, can it help to just let it consolidate some days more before putting it in fruiting conditions?

That’s what I’ve done.
Case it and wait a couple days then put it in the fc.
